Looking extremely nice.

Do you plan to edit the drills file so that infantry form 4 ranks deep? I think early in this war the French even formed 6 deep.

This era might push what you can do with SoW to its limits. Some infantry had plug bayonets so once fixed they could not shoot. The cavalry also still fired and retired in fancy manouvers as well in some armies and didn't rely on shock.

Guns once placed on the battlefield were not moved (except light batalion guns).

Had any thoughts on how those kinds of tactical feat ures might be represented in the game? I'm thinking about them and having trouble myself.

T,

May I refer you to posts 8 and 9 on page 1 of this topic. We've had this conversation before.

I keep looking at these new graphics. They are amazing. Will the Irish Brigade in this mod look like the British Infantry at the beginning of this thread? or will they have their own unit graphics? I can't wait to carry on the Jacobite cause. :) I know this may be tough to answer but can you give an estimate of how much longer we have to wait. I'm trying to be patient

9th,

I would assume they will look like the screenshot Alessillo posted a few posts back, showing his "completed" Irish Brigade Battalions for his new Mod. I think that's what they will look like, since they are completed. ;)

I see. I got them confused with the older SYW sprites. Thanks

9thBtnMOS,

this is another image of the Irish Regiments, I can't make all the combinations of coat and cuffs colours so they have all the same uniform; probably the mod would be ready for the end of September or October, I made all the flags, all the essential sprites (I would add the grenadiers sprites in evry regiment and the Maison du Roi for the french cavalry), four OOBs and three MP scenarios. Yesterdy I tested a multiplayer sandbox battle and all worked fine. So don't worry, you'll have the chance to command the Irish Brigade.

Saddletank,

about cavalry I made two types of cavalry units, the first charge at a slow canter and represents the charge made with the use of pistol firing; the second type charge at the gallop and represents the charge with sword only. The first type is used by French, Austrian, German states and in the melee all cavalry units of these states have a slight disadvantage compared to the cavalry units that charge with sword only.
Not all the artillery was static in the War of Spanish Succession, in the mod artillery is very slow, but you can move field cannons like colonel Blood moved a battery of 9 pounders at the battle of Blenheim.
French and Austrian infantry form 4 ranks deep line and use volley fire, unfortunately SOW engine do not permit to represent volley fire or platoon fire so I introduced an handicap for all units that use volley fire compared to English, Dutch, Prussians and Danish that use platoon fire.
About the plug bayonet, Chandler (The art of warfare in the age of Marlborough, page 84) says that both armies possessed a large number of soket bayonets by 1698, so a good part of men in all regimets were equipped with soket bayonets.

Cheers
