Thanks for the congrats!:)
Interesting Antietam plays better on your PC than Fredericksburg! With my old rig it was just the opposite. You are using the Fburg Lite version i hope. Fburg 'full metal' didn't work on my old rig that well either.
I have always kind of suspected there might be something corrupted or not right with my Antietam files since it ran so bad on my old rig. I remember experimenting when i first installed it by turning off everything that could possibly tax the processor, reducing the drawing distance to an absolute minimum, low AI, ambient sounds off, small battle, etc. And all this only slightly improved the jerkiness of camera movements or freezes.

An interesting side note on all this that i discovered yesterday. I noticed PhotShop would load some of its utilities and drivers very slowly on my new rig, not much faster than my old rig..HuH..??? I'm running Kaspersky AV/Firewall which allows you to Exit out of memory if its not needed. So i Exited Kaspersky and broungt up PhotShop. It loaded almost instantly. H'mm, strange since i've got 4 gigs of DDR3-1133MHz memory!

Anyhow as an experiment on my new rig, i next loaded an Antietam large battle with all bells 'n whistles enabled as before but this time with no Kaspersky running in memory. I tried like hell for about an hour to get Antietam to act up, even let all my Commanders have their suicidal AI heads to get more action going. Nothing, it ran smooth as a baby's behind!
I seriously doubt Kaspersky is hogging that much memory as its one of the more efficient AVs' out there especially compared to the traditional memory hogs like McAfee or Norton. I do know some AV SW uses the innermost highest priority Processor kernals.

Next i fired up my old rig which has 2 gigs of memory, Exited Kaspersky out then loaded Antietam. I'll be damned, the camera movement jerkiness while still there was improved. Also interestingly enough, when i first installed Antietam on my old rig i was running Norton AV at the time which far as i can tell does not allow an Exit out of memory. I remember back then Antietam ran so bad i quit playing it.
So what'n the hell does all this mean? Even though the game is played off line if the AV is running in the background its still using valuable memory and processing resources which depending on the PC could slow things down. Most of the more popular AV software like Norton or McAfee will not allow an Exit out. For those of you with slower PCs, switching to an AV like Kaspersky which allows Exiting might improve things a bit at least when playing a game off line. I've been using Kaspersky for over a year now with no complaints, no viruses or no malware.

Thats an excellent question for those of us that are running quads. Plus as far as sound, how many channels? My onboard audio processor supports up to 8 channels of audio.

I don't use FBurg lite, though I should. I like to use the real thing! Just gotta get enough money for a REAL gaming computer, with a decent battery, then I'll be very happy. Until then...

Try installing Fburg_Lite instead. Running the Lite version made a big improvement on my old rig. Fbug full metal was just about unplayable on my old rig. The graphics are'nt that much watered down either.
What a pleasure it's now to play the full metal version with all bells 'n whistles enabled and with the drawing distance maxed out with absolutely no freezes at all.

An interesting side note. When i set up Fburg to run the non-Lite version for my new rig, i forgot to rename the Fburg_Lite file. With that large drawing distance set, two Fredericksburgs showed up on the battlefield. Talk about confusion!
After about 15 minutes of erratic game behavior it finally crashed!!

Norb if you're out there and speaking of crashes, i think think there's a bug in TC2M when one Army is totally eliminated and its stat page is brought up at the end of the battle. It happened again the other day. The game just about always crashes or does something unexpected like showing the winning Army Commander instead of the losing Army stats when this happens. If the losing Army has at least 1 soldier left, it seems to be OK i think. Might have something to do with Zero forces, maybe some variable divisible by zero error or something.
No big deal but just in case this might also apply to the new game.

It doesn't run, terrible the full one, but it doesn't run extremely smooth, either.

It really depends on where the bug is. If it's a bug in PR or some of the shared libraries, it may be still in there. If it was in the main source, that's different now and it's probably not in there.

response to crash from ironsight.
