Mikesla,

You just said what I think many people are afraid to admit. I know there is a large number of people that only play this game on single player. They are simply intimidated with the multiplayer aspect.

I just wish that more people would give multiplayer a try. It adds a completely new dimension to the game. I don't even bother playing SP anymore, it just isn't the same as MP.

Don't be intimidated by the MP crowd. We really are open to help all the new guys who try it out. You have to understand that we (the multiplayer community) want to see our numbers grow, and that means that we need you new players and are more than happy to help you.

Are you afraid to make a mistake? Hell, I've made hundreds of mistakes online, but it's no big deal. Someone may tell you what you did wrong, but they only do so to help you get better. No one will scream at you.

Mikesla (or anyone else who reads this and only plays SP), as soon as you can, get out there and play some MP games. You will be amazed at what it is like to play against humans as opposed to the ai.

Hi Rich Mac.

It's not so much making mistakes that bother me (can't learn if you don't make them), it's being made an example of before all of the other players, and we all know what that feels like one time or another.

Your are totally correct the ai is really good but playing against people absolutely brings the game to a higher level of play no doubt about it.

If I played against another new person, I can tell you the game would be played in the true spirit of multiplayer, full of mistakes, and no worries, we would most likely have a good laugh at how badly we played, and we would most likely play another game because we know what to expect, and we would learn from them without even talking about it.

Now, if I got online, and decided to play a game that had You, Norb, Little Powell, Jim, RDBoles, Adukes, Garnier, Chamberlain, RebBugler, among many other's out there I would most likely play in a very timid fashion. I would be definately out of my league, just to say I wouldn't be able to function correctly, most likely to find me in the outhouse having a good old fashioned dump, and wondering what the heck did I get myself into.

Oh well, multiplayer is very cool, and I know this game would kicks arse in multiplayer. I don't need to have played MP to know this, the SP is incredible so it only makes sense that MP would be 500 times better.

When I do get highspeed, I'll create a Noob room, and have a go at it.

Later, and thanks Rich Mac.

You would set the bar to a new low if you couldn't beat Norb. He's a genius when it comes to writing the code, but playing the game... not so much.

Rather then playing in a many-multi-player game, perhaps just begin with a one-on-one multi-player game with someone you feel confortable with. Doesn't have to be an army vs army.

Perhaps that will ease the adjustment and increase your participation and "fun" level.

Best of luck,

J

I have been playing multi for several weeks and drifted totally away from SP....and I still usually only play with a maximum of a division of arty or a brigade of infantry. Iknow that many want the Corps or the Army.

Hi Kerflumoxed.

You know, that's what I have heard from everyone who has played mp. For myself, I play at that level as well I find it much more easier for my one brain cell, darn thing can't multitask any longer.

If, and when I get highspeed I'll look to see if you like to have a game. At the moment I only have dialup, so all I can do at the moment is read what the rest of you good people have to say about it.

Cheers...

Mikesla,

I can tell you that you would not be made an example of in any game I am in. Someone would be getting chewed out by me for acting in such a fashion. Not that I have any power over anyone, but I would not sit by idly and watch someone chew out a noob for a mistake. I would embarrass them more than you ;)

You need to get one thing straightened out in your MP expectations...don't assume that WE are that good :) Seriously, if you had any idea of the number of mistakes that I make on a regular basis...ughh.

When you get that highspeed connection...come hunting for a game I'm hosting. You'll be more than welcome there.

Rich

Mikesla - Definitely jump in and play a MP game. You don't need to take a corps the first time out, just start out small with a brigade. We still play co-op games against the AI, so if you want to start out one of those, let us know. We will be more than happy to help you get your feet wet.

As for Rich's comment about not assuming we are all good, he is correct only as that applies to himself. The rest of us are pretty darn good! :P

Seriously though, get into MP - we are always looking for another player to jump into the virtual battlefield of Gettysburg!!

Hope to see you soon,

*S*
