Guys, I am in the lobby, and do this to install the new patch...
DEACTIVATE the game first, then install the patch. That is what I did, and I had no problems installing the patch.
If this is the fix, thank the guys in the lobby!
I wish I would have known that first.
Any suggestions on what to do now?
Are you any good at editing your registry?
OR...
Uninstall the game, re-install it, and apply the 1.5 patch. You no longer have to worry about activating it online to play it anymore so that is a good enough solution.
Don't delete your mods directory, and make a backup of your Keyboard file among other bit concerning your campaign saves, and you should be good to go.

I can't uninstall now. Can't find any of the files and tried to reinstall with no success. The shortcuts for SOW are showing up but can't get the game to run. Not happy with this Matrix disaster...

Couldn't change the path either. Deactivated, Installed, copied files, but the version still is 1.4xxx. When I try to update it tells me that I have the most recent version installed. For some reason the SOW uninstaller doesn't work so I can't reinstall the game. This gets weirder by the minute.
edit: Alright, got the version to 1.5xxx, all seems to work fine I guess. Still can't run the uninstaller for some reason. Won't start up anymore.

I think I am past this point in problems. It would have been nice to know before applying the 1.5 patch that I should have deactivated. Being told after the fact doesn't help anything now as the game isn't working. I have tried uninstalling the game but only the Antietam and PC uninstaller will work. I tried to uninstall using the control panel/programs option in Windows and the SOW-Gettysburg program isn't showing up to uninstall. The problem is that when I try to reinstall the menu says I have the game already installed and patched to 1.5, which is obviously not the case. Multiple re-boots are not fixing the problem either.
Before I screw up my machine, I need some guidance on how to completely scrub SOW off without screwing up the machine and my registration codes, etc.
I am thinking of using Revo Uninstaller to wipe out the rest of SOW legacy programs. I have also downloaded from Matrix the full game install vice just the 1.5 patch. FYI - If you register as a member at Matrix, you can register game keys and that allows you to download a fully patched version instead of just the patch.

Sounds like a mess. I kinda glad I couldn't locate all my activations codes which you need to download the patch. I sent a request to SOW and am waiting.

We are all looking into these issues. Slith wroth the installer, so they will have to fix it. But we are all trying to figure out the case where it gets messed up. I'm glad people made a work around so readily available, thank you.

There are always growing pains with these kinds of things, so everyone having issues please bare with us.
@Willard - This wasn't about making an extra buck, it was about spreading the word of SOW and giving us more time to make new products while they handle the business side.
Willard - Even though you can't uninstall, have you checked to see if you still have SOW files on your machine? Such as, have you deleted your old NorbSoftDev folder? Also were you able to remove the reg entries? When testing clean installs, after I had removed all traces of the game, I installed the full 1.4, installed the matrix patch, entered key, and everything worked. Have you tried that (sorry if you have, hard time keeping up with all the posts)

You can probably uninstall from add/remove programs.
