That would be nice to check over with what I have 2nd Tx - Please send it over - many thanks - according to the AAR's from Taylor Polignac's Division he had just shy of "2000 bayonets!!" as he nicely puts it! - got to love Taylor - Smith's treatment of him was disgraceful! The troop quality was varied and his ranks seemed to have been swelled at times by local militia and volunteers that tagged along it has to be said that the quality of these troops was pretty poor - the Cavalry in particular some of the Texas regiments was very good - I have a few OOBs knocking about which I will finish off after these two in particular Henderson Hill, Mansura and maybe Marks Mill (dependant on my playing around with the Supply wagons - which has been rather frustrating)Zeke, I got all the OOB info for all units at Yellow Bayou. I can send it to you, or I am willing to do it. If you want to do it, I will pass along known unit strength, Armament, etc, etc. Remember, After Mansfield, the Confederates ditched their Model 1841 6lb's for captured 3in Ordnance and Parrott rifles. Winchester's La (Pelican) Btry got a couple of 30lb Parrotts from Banks' men. I have the O.R. at home and there is a detailed report by Maj. Charles W. Squires, Taylor's Cheif of Artillery. He has a detailed report of what battery had which captured gun, how much expenditure of rounds, etc. I wouldn't be out of line to say that Taylor's Artillery after Mansfield and Banks' subsequent retreat, was the best armed artillery force (field art'y) that the Confederacy had in 1864. Experience, on the other hand, was lacking, but by the time Yellow Bayou was fought, these gunners were experienced in hitting Federal Gunboats, so its safe to say they could hit the broad side of a barn. Cavalry, and Quartermaster supply had greatly benifited as well. I could probably say that Polignac's 1200 - 1600 man division had new Springfields, well I say new, close to it, they were only dropped once! Let me know.
I am putting the finishing touches on all 4 maps these next couple of weeks. I wont ruin valentines day, but all 4 should be released shortly after. You guys are going to love the maps and all the new stuff thats included.I hope the release is soon coming!!!! Looking forward to it....
