We answered your initial question up front and concisely...to get batteries to respond to orders from couriers you do not TC them and you must order them to Hold Fire first. Question answered and solution given...so normally, thread closed.
Then you started your tirade insulting our abilities to understand your issue. I though, what issue? It never occurred to me that you could not figure out why TCd batteries responded at shouting distance and not at courier distance, the obvious answer being that no couriers are involved at shouting distance.
So, our error was in assuming that you knew what was obvious to us. Please excuse our oversight.

As an amature banjo player (true story), I greatly appreciate the explanation of how the system. Having a "big" voice, I should be able to control all movement all the time!
Thanks to all for the clear explanation!

Reb,you still don't get it and are stuck in the past, and still slinging insults. I would think someone on the test team would be less inclined to play with the fire of flame posts, but you seem bound and determined to push the envelope. With your behavior I'm surprised that you made the test team, maybe you are just the mascot?
As I said, if I have questions in the future, I will address them to Garnier in private so the rest of you won't have to put up with reb bungler's irritating replies.

Even though this seems to be over, I'm locking this down because this is not how we like to behave on this board. Everyone needs to get a little patience both in explaining and in trying to understand what is being explained. We don't like flame wars and we don't like insults being thrown around. It's just a matter of really understanding what's going on. I admit that it took me a me posts to really see the issue.
This is not an intentional design decision, but the result of other decisions.
When you use the mouse and the toolbar, it will control even TC'd units. They override everything.
Courier orders are sent and they are ignored by TC'd units. The TC unit does not know that those orders were from a mouse click. Maybe this is something that could be fixed, but it's a fine line because the TC'd unit would have to continue to ignore couriers from AI players, but not the ones from the game player. I don't think that this has ever come up as a request before.
I do agree that this is an inconsistency in the game and that fixing it would improve playing this way.
