The point behind the above OOB posts has to with RebBugler's; "comment about spiking guns". Of course in order to spike guns, you have to capture them first. I'm trying to get a clear picture about the ability of cavalry to capture and keep guns at Gettysburg. We do have scenarios in the game including cavalry, which I have not played, and would like to know if they (cav) can capture and keep the guns before I or others get into those stock/sandlot/MOD/MP scenarios?

BOSTON :)
The only cavalry in the game at this time is Buford's Division with 2 Brigades (Gamble's and Devin's) and Calef's Battery A - 2nd U.S. Artillery. In the oob Calef is treated like a separate Division commander. So if the cavalry capture any guns I would think they would disappear.
You might have missed Stewart's Division in Sandlot.

CSA cavalry can capture and keep Union artillery in Sandlot, just did a test. The way I sum things up so far;

CSA can capture and keep Union artillery.

Union cannot capture and keep CSA artillery.

At this time I have not tried Union Cavalry in Sandlot. If it is true That Union cavalry cannot capture and keep artillery, because of cavalry and artillery units being in separate divisions, then the CSA army is going to be the only side capable of keeping captured artillery. Let me see if this is going to hold up. ;)

In Sandlot; Union cavalry can capture (white flag) but cannot keep artillery.

Fundamentally I think there is a flaw in the game where oneside can capture and keep artillery and the other side can't, be it by cavalry or infantry. :blink:

Actually if you play as Pleasanton, I think you might be able to keep captured Confederate guns since you would have artillery batteries below you. I would have to check to be sure though.

And I was talking about the scenario's not the sandbox games. You can have just about anyone you want in sandbox.

I tested the Union cavalry before I made the above quote/post.

In All the Scenarios that show that Jackson and Stewart Divisions have artillery, all those same divisions would be able to capture Union artillery and add those captured guns to the CSA OOB. :)

All the Union units that can capture artillery, then add those captured artillery to the Union OOB; 0, zero , None, nada, zilch. :huh: :blush:
