I see the publicity problem and I would agree that once it got out their hands were tied. I would have cut his pay big time though, something below 6 figures. He would have to earn his way back. Especially since he damaged the integrity of the park with his actions. So in the end, I guess I would be tougher on him than they were.
Agree 100%! Unfortunately, with the way the government is structured, it is extremely doubtful that a pay cut will follow. Rather, he will continue to receive an exorbitant amount of taxpayer's funds and be stuffed away in some "out of the way" cubby-hole until he retires with a big, fat pension and all the other perks of being a government retiree. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause...and he looks a like Uncle Sam!

Have a great day, gentlemen, while I slave in the classroom giving quarter finals in American History! :woohoo:

Do you teach at a high school or college?
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.

Both...I teach as an Adjunct Professor for the local college on campus as well as Advanced Placement class at the HS for the same college. Its called dual enrollment where the kids receive both HS and college credit at the same time. Normally, the kids would come to the college but since the HS uses a block schedule, it is easier for me to go to them. Just happens to be the same HS I retired from so it is a familiar environment.

I also am an Adjunct Professor for Southwest University which is primarily a source for higher education for the military through the DANTES program.

Sounds pretty great for the kids! I have to start looking at colleges soon, and I'm not looking forward to the price tags. :(

I never cared much for the guy. Being a traditionalist, I never got over the loss of the Electric Map and the new multimedia visitor's center is going to take me years to get used to. His attitude (at least the one most often portrayed) was that of smarmy academic who simply knew what is best for the Park and the entire nation as it relates.

As for his internet activities.... utterly unacceptable. He should count himself incredibly lucky to still be employed.

Finis coronat opus!

I will not miss you Mr. Latschar
