I HATE THE NEW SITE

I'm confused, the link goes to a page that demos all of their different templates. I'm not sure which of their templates you like best. Or are you saying that I should stick with the current look of the site?

Scratch that last post i like the

jul 07 replicant because you can add NSD game picture
to the back ground
and that has the see through modules

then again im torn now lol
the AUG 08 perihelion looks good too

so i say either one of these you like but i did mod the 07 replicant it seems more stream line and i dig the see through

OK, I really like that one too. Now that just the two of us are deciding the future of this website and community all by ourselves, I feel it is my responsibility to give this a few days in case anyone else wants to chime in. If there is no better alternative offered, then I'm going with your choice and the fate of the world is in your hands

if i might interject, i see a bit of griping from older players that this current layout is too dark and hard to read; while i like both of the templates already discussed, might i suggest one that, while not as visually 'sexy', is more straightforward and offers dark text on white backgrounds? that would placate the majority of the following, if making the most people happy with the visual layout of the site is considered a priority. i mean, all of them look great, but i think we can please most people with a well-chosen layout.

While Perihelion works well in that respect, i also think anything from 12/07 populus thru 5/08 catalyst would work. a lot of them are like 9/06 - mobius: you can allow adjustment of type size and page width. only problem is i don't see a forum sample with this layout... 11/06 Stormtrooper isn't bad neither, you get the dark text/white background option plus it looks like a gaming site, appealing to the younger demographic. i'd probably have to vote for stormtrooper based on its look.

BTW, i would be happy to help with any graphics/front end work that would be needed... it appears it's pretty much ready-to-go right out of the gate so there wouldn't be much work involved.

Thanks for your input Eric. I'll check those out tonight. I too have read the issues people have with the light on dark and I agree that it might be a good idea to go away from the dark site. Vonviper, what is your opinion on the stormtrooper template? Eric, thanks for the offer of help, if I have issues after I apply a new template, I will place them in your capable hands

Keep in mind that NSD is about more than just Civil War; i see more and different game titles being offered on the homepage's left-hand side in the future

Since the min term of joining Rocket is 3 months, I'm sure that I can try them both. Von, since Eric is my main map man and a member of the NSD art staff, his vote gets a little more weight than yours or mine, I hope you understand. But I believe that we will get a chance to try all templates that we like. So if I join RocketTheme and download the candidates, then maybe we'll get a better idea of what works best for the site. Von, yes fireboard is an add on component for Joomla and gets it's own templates. But it must in spirit match up with the main site template as it does use some of the same fonts.

thats why i highly recommended to you Rocketheme when you ask me about finding a template
no matter what template Louie and you choose and the rest of the art staff

you can surely simply change out templates to meet your current themes or any future game titles and so on ... thats something i like about it they all seem very inter changable you can have this look today then another look tomorrow..
i'm a big fan of Rocketheme now that i had a chance too see them in action i'm sure ya'll will make the right choice to fit your needs
