That would take time to run every time you start the game, besides time to implement it and especially to make sure it didn't prevent legitimate games from starting.

Plus it couldn't cover map files, because not everyone needs the same maps installed -- they only need the same version of the specific map being played.

I'm willing to give it a shot. Are there any volunteers out there?
I think it would be ideal if I could try this with some participants from
GCM battle 13545 or 13621 (~3 weeks ago). I was in both those battles:

13545:
US - Mongoose
US - kg sspoom
US - bocephuz
US - Jimmy
CS - WJPalmer
CS - Jonah
CS - Shaka

13621:
US - Sgt. JT
US - kg soldier
US - Mongoose
US - avsjones
CS - HancocktheSuperb
CS - WJPalmer

Just come on teamspeak and sit in the 1v1 Battle Queue. If I'm not busy when you're there I'll play. There are others who do as well.

cjay,

I'm sure someone will be happy to get you squared away. Come in early and try to get a test game or two done.

Most of the issues come in because people want to run with their own toolbars, own artwork, so we've tried to separate out what must be sync'd and what doesn't. But I'm sure that there are ways to mess it up.

This happened again, we have three logs:
kg soldier
WJ Palmer
vegasmedic

The message is all the same: "13662243,BADRANDSYNC,559 cjay,188,138,0"

cjay says he's on Windows 8, running SOW in XP emulator mode.

I'm not aware of anyone who plays MP regularly on Windows 8 -- if you do, speak up. My guess right now is that this is the problem.

Just scanning earlier threads... On the remote chance the post "Windows 8 Compatibility" wasn't noticed, it appears another user of W8 has a problem similar to cjay's, while still another (Jeff) reports no problem running SoW so long as "Win 7 compatibility" is checked.

None of those posts are talking about multiplayer as far as I can tell. cjay's issue is one that would only affect multiplayer.
