How newbie friendly is MP?

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

It sounds like you have conflicting Mod issue. That would be the first thing to check.

Make sure that you are using the most current game version.

He is at 1.4026 or whatever it is. He can get into staging, but every time we start, he crashes. We went over his mods and everything seems right. We tried 5 or 6 times but no love.

Not sure what the deal is.

Yeah, I only had the GCM mods active, and I think the last time we tried it without a few of them. Everything is up to date as far as I can tell.

Edit:

I did what I did yesterday and went back to check the mods and I believe I might have forgotten(or not even noticed, really) to disable the Enhanced Arty and Flank Fire mod.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that could cause some problems.

Make sure that exceptions for the game are granted through firewall and anti virus also

That would definitely crash you out of an MP game since its a gameplay mod that others are not using.

Eh, it crashed didn't connect again. I didn't have time to fix it because 1) you guys were ready to go and I wasn't going to hold you up again a second day in a row and 2) real life showed up at the exact same time anyway and provided a convenient excuse to not bother with it at the moment.

It worked when I tried it with just me and someone else, but not when I tried it with the group. I'm kind of at a loss. Normally when I have problems I can solve them myself with a quick internet search, but at the moment I can't find anyone who has had a similar problem. That coupled with the small multiplayer base makes it difficult to test solutions.

Out of defeat I ended up just buying Pipe Creek and Antietam since it looks like I'll be sticking to single player until I figure this out.

Drop by our Teamspeak channel and try HITS & Couriers. We'll get you fixed up with the one mod you need which is MTG's Couriers and Maps mod. It's 2 mods above where you got his Improved Artillery and Enfilade Fire Mod.

Already have it! I can't play without it.

My work week is starting up, though, so I'll be busy for the next few days. Probably won't be able to try again until early next week.

Afraind I can't help on this one, so I'm gonna move this one to tech support - should get the help you need there.

Defeat or no, you won't regret that  I play SP HITS all the time and I love it.. Pipe Creek and Antietam give you loads of new awesome maps to play on.
