The sadness of it all....Diablo 3 launched, but not what you may have wished for.

We're gamers, so here is a good place to discuss other games you are playing or are curious about.

So. . . you just run around and kill stuff?

No thanks.

I just bought this: http://www.slitherine.com/games/coh_pc

A board game turned computer game. I'm through the first few scenarios, pretty good so far. I'll try mp once I get competent.

Yep, Dungeon Crawlers aren't everyone's cup of tea. I just read about the game, looks interesting thanks.

I'm not a MP gamer as well, but sure is cool to try it out when it is up, and running. All too often though I have seen this great pending release of a MP mod soon to find out that the project has abandoned because of Oblivion 6 has just been released. Can't really trust what you read until you see the final product.

Oh well...

Soldier, that looks really cool. I'm fed up with all these real-time 3D WW2 games that have little to do with real combat and this game looks like it has reasonably correct, balanced forces.

Could you let us know what you think of it when you've played it a bit? Thanks.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

Well it was just a matter of time... Accounts have been hacked, and stripped bare.

Here is what was posted on another site.

Title: Diablo 3 accounts hacked, gold and items stolen

Eurogamer has received multiple reports of Diablo 3 accounts being hacked.

Over the weekend Eurogamer writer Christian Donlan saw his account hacked and transferred to the control of the mysterious Anna. Her conversation with Eurogamer reviews editor Oli Welsh is documented below.

A quick glance online shows multiple reports of Diablo 3 accounts being hacked, suggesting it is a growing issue. Players have seen the loss of items stored in character inventory and stash, and gold removed as their accounts are stripped bare. Blizzard has been working to "roll back" affected characters to a point before accounts were compromised, but some progress is lost.

The reports coincided with the EU Diablo 3 servers going offline on Sunday afternoon for around four hours, preventing players from logging in (error 33). It has been suggested that the EU servers were taken offline following a SQL injection attack, but this remains unconfirmed.

Blizzard offers an Authenticator designed to provide extra security to your account. Donlan did not have the authenticator before the hack, but reports suggest accounts have been compromised even with this enabled.

One theory suggested by players on the Battle.net forum revolves around hijacking session identifiers, which would allow hackers to take over accounts without alerting Blizzard's authentication server. Again, this remains unconfirmed.

Whatever the cause, Blizzard will be keen to address the situation quickly, especially in light of the upcoming release of the real money auction house and the growing complaints from players. Blizzard said last week it was set for release at the end of the month.

Eurogamer has requested comment from Blizzard, which is yet to address the issue.

Hi redcoat.

Haaaaa, I feel the same way.

The real nut too all of this is Blizzard is going to have the money trading aspect of the game active in about a month. Imagine, trading/purchase items on a system that has already been cracked/hacked. I wouldn't go near that for any amount of money (or lack there of).

I know that aspect (pay to gain) has been around for a very long time. If Blizzard can't lock this infestation down then their customers, and themselves are in for a very rude awakening. The absurdity of it all is that there will never be a safe place to play period. the millions of dollars spent on these servers, and heralding a new safe place to play is just an illusion. Nothing is safe, and as soon as
these companies accept this the better we will all be.

Imagine, most of this could be avoided by simply making an offline mode for the game so SP players can have fun on their own without the need for the internet, and leave the MP to those who don't care all that much if their accounts get hacked (just don't pay to gain).

I have to admit that it really doesn't bother me all that much seeing a company as large as Blizzard get hit. I do feel bad for the customer/player base though because these folks don't need to be taken to the cleaners, but Blizzard? Oh yeah. I have as much love for them as I do for Steam/Valve (bunch of crooks). I see these larger companies as being worse than the pirates themselves... But hey, that is another nut within the larger nut that can really get peoples blood boiling.

Oh well... crazy thing is, it's only going to get worse, and I can't say that it will get better. As long as people keep buying the product Blizzard, and other companies put out there that are like this online crap to play SP that is all we are ever going to see.

I have to say, I love NSD, they are small, and conscience of their customers needs, and wants... You can never go wrong with those types of companies (as long as they don't forget where they came from, and who got them there).

Final Note #1: Kick larger companies in the sack (Not all larger companies are bad, just certain one's that have made it their life long dream to screw over it's customer base), and raise smaller Indie companies on your shoulders, and carry them off to victory.

Final Note #2: For you good people who would like to point their boney finger toward who too blame for all of this sort of Online crap, look to Valve, they created STEAM to introduce Half Life 2, and that is where it all started.

Here are some small posts. One is about who got hacked while he was online playing... How in the hell does that happen, and how can Blizzard allow for dual login's?

It's sad reading on Blizzards forum, sad that people have to pay for Blizzards screw-ups.

Here is another post...
