Courriers & Mods

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Many thanks again con20or.

Just tried the courier Mod and I think it's an improvement over the standard message system. It looks as if you still need to use the patent MTG move/facing/formation/posture format though to get the troops to move.

I'm just getting into Mods. Any others you'd recommend?

I get flustered with too many mods - but the ones i use are

1. Bugles and flags - some nice graphic and gameplay improvements

2. Couriers and maps

3. Smoke FPS improvment

4. Old style courier message

5. Darker trees

and i think im forgetting one more...

Thanks again. Have tried installing Bugles & Flags, but cannot get it to work. It's no doubt me doing something wrong

Have created a folder in 'Mods' called 'Bugles and Flags v08' and extracted all of the files into it. It appears in the Mods screen, and I have activated it.

Am assuming I need to use the DRF scenarios to see the new flags. Is that right? Problem is that I don't see them when say going into the Sandbox screen. I also haven't noticed anything new on the toolbars, which I though I would. Any suggestions?

You will have to use the DRF scenarios in User Scenarios and DRF OOB's to see them in Sandbox. As far as not seeing the toolbar, I'm not sure about that. Just remember that you won't be able to use the toolbar in the Historic Scenarios.

Thanks LP but I'm not sure I follow. Sorry.

How do I get the DRF scenarios into User Scenarios? Could you give me a step-by-step guide please? I had a look in the game files for User Scenarios but couldn't find such a folder. To be honest, I've never been too sure what the User Scenarios game window was for.

As far as the OOBs go I'm similarly perplexed. When I downloaded the Chickamauga OOBs I just extracted them to the Mods folder and they showed-up when I accessed the Sandbox. For some reason that doesn't seem to happen with the Bugle & Flag OOBs, even though I followed the same method.

try this

-go to your mods folder

-go to your B&F folder

-if inside your B&f folder theres another folder called B&F, then thats your problem. that should be the folder in the MOD directory, so your going to have to take it out and put it in the mod folder so it is the first folder reached.

-rename that folder to B&f1 or something.

- cut it

- go up one folder level to just inside the mods folder.

- paste it

- delete the now empty B&F folder.

- rename B&F1 to B&F or whatever the original name was.

- Go to a sandbox battle

- look in the oob list, there should be oob's with DRF after them. Choose one, load up a battle.

- you should see a new toolbar, and have the new flags.

You cant use this mod in the historic scenarios, as in the gettysburg scenarios, it just doesnt run.

Thanks C but it's not that. Just checked my B&F folder in Mods. There are no other folders inside. Just 138 files, including flags, music & OOBs.

Any other thoughts welcome. I'm sure it's me doing somethingt wrong, as others are obviously using the mod with no difficulty.

I looked at the Chickamauga mod which is working for me, and found that within that folder there is an OOBs subfolder. So as an experiment I created one within the B&F folder, and put all the OOBs into it. Partial success. I am now able to see the B&F OOBs in the Sandbox, but when I try and select one it crashes the game.

No need to move files around, create folders etc., it's a very simple process. It's probably best to just start over. So go into your Mods folder and remove all things Bugles And Flags.

Grab the latest here: http://www.norbsoftware.com/NSDTeam/Ran ... ags_v08.7z

You will need 7-zip to open it (assuming you already have that since you were able to open it before)

Once the 7zip file is open, simply drag the Bugles and Flags v08 folder to your Mods directory, start the game, enable the mod, enjoy.

probably best if you start again as LP suggests.

my advice was just in case you had extracted the files into a newly created B&F folder, which would then also have another B&F folder inside it (the one you need). Causes problems with MODS in some games.

That's worked. And very nice it all looks too!

Is there any way to use the flags with other OOBs - eg the Chickamauga ones? I think I'm up to editing excel files if that's what it takes.

Many thanks for bearing with me chaps :)
