Re: Couriers stopped working
Assuming I'm a division commander, can I send the same orders to all my brigade commanders at once or do I have to repeat the process as many times as I have brigades?
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

Reb – in all fairness you have different testers testing different things so some things would go unnoticed by some testers. I mean it is best to test the things that appeal to you, this would keep you glued to the game.I missed this one somewhere along the line. I asked about this in another thread and a reliable source steered me to believe that the delayed response and movement was normal according to personality and experience.
Marching-Thru-Georgia – mentioned this tip months back, when I asked him something about the courier-system, so I have been using it since that point.
The other thing about the courier-system is also probably true, it is probably coded to react to the personality-traits of the commanders. I think that Norb may have placed the time-stamp in later doing one of the patches.
Now, considering that this courier-system is a first generation upgrade, I think that it has enhanced the single-player game too a great extent.
Yes, it could probably be fine-tuned – but to go from a no-courier-system to this, I think that the game is moving in the right direction. There has been plenty of times that I have had multiple brigades marching, and then receiving another order from me, directing them to another part of the field. They somehow would never make it into the battle, and as history has been documented, this happen in real-life also.
Considering that all of these guys were from the states you never hear about a General dressing up a courier to look like the enemy and having him ride over to give the other General mis-leading information. I guess that they were from a different-honor-system back then.Perhaps these couriers stopped to have some of that fine "appropriated Pennsylvania Whiskey"! :woohoo:

Re: Couriers stopped working
Guys, just FYI...I have used the courier system extensivly before. Usually, if I want the order executed immediately, I begin with "execute the following orders" It has never been a problem. It just .....stopped working. I did a system restore about 3 weeks ago and am wondering if that could have done something? not sure why it would. I HAVE to think this is operator error but I have used couriers alot so I cant guess what I am doing wrong; which is why- hesitantly- I posted here.

The System Restore might have had something to do with it. I would try uninstalling and re-installing the game. Make sure you have your Activation Code because I always deactivate first in case there's a problem during the process. Also make sure you back up your ...\Mods folder and any game files you might have changed like the keyboard.csv and sounds. It just .....stopped working. Re: Couriers stopped working
I would take an easier route – I would first try re-installing the latest patch over the game, and then testing the game to see if the problem remains.
If, this didn’t work then you could do a complete \ un-install \ re-install \ patch \ .

This behavior occurs only when the enemy is in sight. Otherwise the commander will carry out his orders immediately. The problem is that the restore replaced the game with an old version that required the execution time to be selected. Norb fixed that some time ago. As Davinci suggested, a reinstall of the latest patch will solve the problem.I asked about this in another thread and a reliable source steered me to believe that the delayed response and movement was normal according to personality and experience
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
Re: Couriers stopped working
Thanks guys, I will reinstall the patch. If I have to install the game, how do I reinstall without a disk? With my activation code, ( assuming I have it) can I re-download from the site? I know I have to deactivate first.

Yes, as you already know, the demo is the game, so download the demo and the latest patch from this site. Thanks guys, I will reinstall the patch. But, this brings me to another point, I hear a lot of people state that they have to re-download the game, what happened to the first download that you had, did you delete it?
I created a folder on my Computer called Downloads – basically files that I want to keep – and every time I download something that I want, I just place the downloaded file in this folder.
I know that this requires a lot of wasted space on the Hard-Drive , but most new computers (i.e…several years old) have roughly 300GB of space.

Great advice, D. I've been doing that for years. Also I do it when I work on one of my customer's machines. That way if I download something for them I know where it is. Ditto for file servers for the same reason.I created a folder on my Computer called Downloads – basically files that I want to keep – and every time I download something that I want, I just place the downloaded file in this folder.
