OK...I'll try it the way you suggested, and let you know what happens.
Also, if I sounded intemperate...my apologies.
McPherson Ridge Scenario Question
Re:McPherson Ridge Scenario Question
Ok...I tried your suggestion, and essentially ignored Devin. I was able to score a major victory with Gamble. I had several followup questions:
1. During the height of the battle, I wanted to resupply one of my regiments. I brought the supply wagon over to it, and then selected resupply. The regiment lined up to receive ammunition. How long does it typically take to resupply a regiment?
2. As an experiment I went to the orders screen, and sent a request support order to Devin. The courier was able to deliver the message without issue. After the delivery, neither he nor the regiments under his command appeared to respond to the request. Is that by design?
Thanks.

Re:McPherson Ridge Scenario Question
My apologies... I have answered the same question ten times...
1. I believe a supplied unit will move away when it is finished re-supplying.
Ask a tester
2. Devin is detached (not TCed), so are his regiments. I may do this multiple times in the scenario (to make it difficult to recall him). So if you grab them, they may break away again, by script. If you TC them they may or may not break away. Depending on the command I used.... The intention was to make it difficult. and to rely on Gamble.
Now if you got a hard variant, Good luck....

War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.

I'll have to find out. It could be that this function is disabled for the scenario's. I know it works for Sandbox and MP though. You can request support from AI regiments and they will send help.kaplan71 wrote:

Do the cavalry actually have repeaters? Hmm. At Gettysburg they actually didn't have repeating rifles yet.Tankerdco wrote:This is how they should act in accordance with the script. Devlin's troopers were sent off to the north as a screen as the battle began and weren't brought back until about 30 minutes before the 1st Corps troops arrived. Believe me, with their repeaters the troopers you have can handle Heth's boys. Give them some kind of cover and they will hold until they run out of ammo.I am sorry to report that Gamble does the same thing. I leave Gamble un-TC'd, order to hold and his troopers mount up every time and retreat without firing a single shot.

They had Sharp's .52 caliber breech loading rifles, IIRC. That would allow them to get off 5-6 shots per minute as opposed to 2-3 shots that a soldier with a musket could fire. Not quite as good as a repeater, but much better than a muzzle loader.Shirkon wrote:Do the cavalry actually have repeaters? Hmm.
