I know that there r dedicated severs that play on would provide a disadvantage for slower machines? I know nothing about networking.

I am kinda excited to to see how this plays out. If I could get a server for myself with extra power,speed etc and my wife gives me the ok I just might do it

No matter how fast the server is, the MP game only runs at the speed of the slowest system. This is because of the need to keep everything synchronized. Think of it like a group run. If you want the group to stay together, you can only go as fast as the slowest member of your group.
