Detachment Suggestion

Post by Hancock the Superb »

I would like to suggest for the detachment policy.

I believe that if a regiment, brigade, division, etc has been detached, it is no longer under your command. If you have detached the formation, then you should have the option of reattaching it, but by the lengthy courier method. While detached, you may attach it to any command on your side, by clicking on the commander's flag (similar to the guard function with cavalry in TC2M). If you just want it detached, you hit a key or select the unit itself, or something. While a unit is detached, even if it is just an infantry regiment, there is an AI, which automatically assumes a Hold at all Hazards position. However, depending upon the aggressiveness of the commander of the unit, it may switch to attack if the enemy is nearby.

I hope that this is still in time to be considered. I believe that it would greatly enhance the game play.

This was a question for the Forum about a year ago. I'd have to do some digging to find the thread. I remember Jim telling us that a feature like that wouldn't be easy to code? Or something similar.

But your right Hancock, it would be a great feature to have, and I would no doubt use it a lot. I'd probably rearrange a given OOB, right there on the battlefield!
