Command Control
Command Control
I was disappointed TC2M in that I found it difficult to "find" Bde Commdrs. The map was not particularly good.
I would have preferred better use of the OOB screen in that you could click on the Formation Comdr and be taken there.
Will Gettysburg have this facility?

Re:Command Control
If the "Designating Flags" could be used for each Corps, Division, and Brigade for the Union, that would help alleviate the problem on at least that side.

I'm pretty sure that we'll have the ability to goto the commander from the oob screen.

Re:Command Control
I don't have a problem finding commanders and units in TCM2. I just use the arrow keys and scroll through and can get to any commander pretty quickly. I just click on any unit or officer and then use the up or down arrows to get the level desired and then go across to the unit or brigade I want.
There are severa; factors that contribute to this working for me though:
1. I almost exclusively play as Army of the Potomac with AOP OOBs.
2. I have a reasonably good knowledge of AOP's OOB for the major campaigns.
3. I try to keep unit cohesion (at least a division level, but attempt to do so at corps level) as much as possible when committing troops, so when I click on a unit or officer, it is probably close to the one I want.
4. I use CMP3 with the state flags, corps flags (after May 1863) and use 14th Brooklyn uniform mod and western uniform mod. I set my unit common files so that relatively newer units in the OOB have backpacks only. Veteran units have western mod uniforms mixed in with the standard infantry uniforms. If I see the 14th Brooklyn, a zouave unit, white Massachusetts flags, an irish flag, a big regiments with backpacks, western units, etc. it gives me some idea of who I am looking at on the screen and how to get to the unit or officer I want by scrolling.
If I play outside of the Army of the Potomac, however, I am sure I would be lost. What I like about the game (and especially making minor mods on OOBs for uniforms, weapons, quality, etc.) is that it links so well with research. TCM2 really helped reinforce and develop my knowledge of historical AOP OOBs!

Re:Command Control
I agree, we had a hell of a team do the research and design the scenarios on TC2M, that's why I made sure to get them over here

I second that Norb, and there are still some pretty awesome modders still at TC2M creating more maps and scenarios !!!!I agree, we had a hell of a team do the research and design the scenarios on TC2M, that's why I made sure to get them over here

Of course, the process could be handicapped by an inadequate computer, which I believe I currently have and will be corrected by the time this game is released (165 days remain in 2009 and counting! :woohoo:) Nevertheless, I am hopeful someone will devise a step-by-step guide to adding the "patches", scenarios & "mods." Any takers? (Or, perhaps this has already been done and I am unawares of this resource.)
Thanks

Can only concur with Col. Chamberlain. Now, if a definitive set of instructions could be made available for folks like me who are computer illiterative, it would make the process considerably more enjoyable and less painful.norb wrote:I second that Norb, and there are still some pretty awesome modders still at TC2M creating more maps and scenarios !!!!I agree, we had a hell of a team do the research and design the scenarios on TC2M, that's why I made sure to get them over here

Re:Command Control
We have an entirely new and much simpler system for adding in mods for GB. We have used in in testing alternate versions of game items like toolbars. You should only need one installation of the game and you will be able to switch between mods easily.
