Savage's Station Redux - Released

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

A map to represent the battlefield of Savage's Station, Virginia in 1862.

Please read the further notes below before downloading

Featuring:

- Ground texture and terrain upgrades.
- 3D models by Pom.
- Some Hi-def flags from Rebugler's B&F mod.
- Some new or reshaded building textures.
- Some new portraits.
- A new scenario - SS01-Prince John (C-Corps).
- It makes use of some of MTG's Maps & Couriers mod.

It appears to play fine with or without Bugles and Flags enabled.

If there's an appetite, I'll release a version with Pom's hi-res sprites included further on, when I have time.

FURTHER NOTES - Full disclosure

I started this project a few years ago but never got around to finishing it. Thought I'd best do so as not sure how many still play SoWGB.

A few warnings.

Firstly, the scope of the SoW engine means the rail gun only works in scripted scenarios. The 3D model cannot move, obviously, so much will depend on what is in it's line of sight.

Secondly, I am not a scenario designer, so anyone expecting RebBugler standards will no doubt be disappointed. I have done my best to reflect where Magruder's troops appeared but sure it could be improved by someone who knows what they're doing.

If others can do a better job, then you are welcome to have at it.

Thirdly, this mod may place some demands on the memory of older systems, but should be fine on anthing more recent. My rig is very old so probably not the best measure of optimal specs.

Finally, much of the battlefield was destroyed by the current freeway so my version is an approximation based on the Civil War Trust's maps and GoogleEarth. The historical maps are somewhat lacking in detail to put it mildly. I think it works okay, but the purists out there may disagree. Again, you're welcome to create your own version. :)

Thanks David,

Good to hear.

Yes, Pom did some real nice work on the 3D objects. Glad people finally get to see them after it took me so long to release this project.

"Crikey" Excellent looking Map Pictures, and how did you get the Courier Message to "Not" show the time multiple times, I have spent hours trying to achieve that, and failed!

Or, did you just crop-off the time shown?

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!
