How does the game decide the end and the winner for a battle within a campaign?

Post by Jean Lafitte »

I find that the computer shuts the battles down before much is actually decided on the field and then declares the AI the winner! So, I'm left to Retreat instead of completing my version of Cannae against the AI.

Any explanation?

Thanks.

There is % losses rate variable (from 21 to 30% according to the AI commander personality) which forces the AI to end the battle like the player could do

In campaign battles, I'm seeing the AI end the battle after about three percent losses -- and the AI wins almost all the time.

it depends from the battles type: some of them has a time limit which forced the end with the current points you need to check the battle info in order to be sure of parameters.

It there a way in the standard game to alter the forces to add, for example, a cavalry division to an infantry corps? Or if not in the standard game, is there a mod that does this? If so can a kind respondent attach a link?

The campaign oobs are the same used for the tactical battles, so you can prepare your own oob with the combo you want and create a mod for use it. There's a example of modified oob mod for the campaign released with the standard game.
