I personally enjoy large black block mode, really adds to the realism :) not sure of what though.

I had the same problem on Win 8.1, works with the fix above.
Now I have another problem, I'm posting in this topic encase they are related somehow.

I can't move on the campaign map :( No amount of clicking works. The game is unpaused, the army is selected and if I right drag click I can see the "marker". But no dotted line to the town and no army movement.
If i hold right ctrl and "spam" around the map I do get the occasional movement though. Needless to say that is not a reliable way to control the troops.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem as Keat (running win8 but using compatibility with win7). The campaign map was unresponsive too, eventually spam clicking seemed to produce a result. To be honest I had no idea what was going on in the campaign map.

It should jsut require

1. unit selection
2. unpause
3. right click on destination town name
