Scouts

Are scouts going to employed in GB? Either singular or a small group with calvary like mobility. Would it be historicly correct to use scouts in GB?

It would be historicly accurate and correct to have Scouts in GB... There is alot of documentation of scouts at GB.. Lots of scouting at night and such..

Here is a Piece on Capt. Samual R. Johnston.. It even has some of his own reports and recounts in it...

It also tells of other scouts and who and how they were escorted..

In my modded scenarios, I try to put 10 men of calvary as scouts, but they always seem to route too quickly. Enemy within firing range and boom - routing.

Were they elite? and did they route out of the game entirely or return? It would only go to figure that the scouts would try to avoid engagement. Did your scouts have an officer present? Calvary in TC2M seemed a bit skittish anyway after their numbers got reduced. Tell me about your experience with scouts, I'd like to hear it.

The small scouting parties are called Vedettes. Buford used them on the first day.

I see that vedettes were used as Listening Posts during GB often.
