All,
I goofed around with 1812 awhile back also. I did use the Portuguese Fusiliers as US Regulars. Worked out ok.

Spent today goofing around with the idea of an 1812 mod. Real life demands and my commitment to finishing the 1836 Mod mean I won't have time to do too much on this or prep many OOBs but given a week or two I could provide a basic package (loading screens, csvs etc) which you can add to.
Aim would be to make it fully compliant with the Nappy Mods. As a result I won't incl unpacked sprites (which rules out some of the useful RnR backwoodsmen sprites)as this affects MP. If these eventually get packed then cool.

With luck we could soon have a batch of mods that can be swapped in and out underneath the Nap mods as needed.
So...

Billiant, Brilliant, Brilliant Crickey. Yes, all excellent ideas, and great suggestions for the sprites. I'll be changing the U.S. Regulars over to Portuguese/Dutch infantry, which look more correct. And Ill be swapping the french flags out for American ones, then I'll upload it when I get the chance. Also I'll try to start working on creating some other OOB's for an 1812 mod until can get my hands on that rebs vs redcoats disk  .

Don and Longstreet,
Finally got the AWI Mod off in the mail to you both. You both should have it in a few days.
Don - Kick the flash-drive back to me after you copy the AWI Mod. I finally broke down and am doing the 18th. century Russian Sprites. Also, (as Davinci said I would), I've finally figured out a better version of the "Dead Guy" problem with the Austrian, French and Prussian Infantry sprites. Will send you a revised Mod copy for you to install, if you want.

Re: American Rev. War mod anywhere??
Thanks Jack! and Crickey I have a question for you, what flag is it that you are using in those screenshots? It appears as though your using a slightly smaller semi-transparent US flag for some of the units. This is perfect and exactly what i need, but i can't seem to find that anywhere. The reason being, that in my Bladensburg OOB i broke regiments/battalions down into individual company's but i still want to have the proper number of actual flags, so I've given only the 1st company in each battalion a "real flag"(along with a few extra men to represent the colour gaurd); while the rest of the companies get the smaller semi-transparent flags. So while i have swapped out the large visible french flags for the US ones with the 1st companies and officers; I am still currently using the small, semi-transparent french flags for the rest of the companies as I do not have or cannot find a smaller semi-transparent US flag equivalent.
But anyways, the actual OOB itself is essentially complete, here it is in its current state: http://www.mediafire.com/view/r23eqea61 ... gTest5.csv
I have tested it a few times and it seems to work fine in both single-player and multi-player, we had a MP battle with it the other night and it worked great. You just need both the Road to Wagram mod, and the Kriegspiel(KS) Napoleon mod for it to work properly. Copy the ^above .csv file into the "OOBs" folder of the Road to Wagram Mod and that's it! I will change the flags and re-upload it when i can, and if we get some "more correct" sprites packed up later on we can always add them
. Enjoy guys.
Edit/PS: I took a closer look at those screenshots and I just noticed that you have broken down the regiments into companies there aswell, that's awesome, I'm glad we're both on the same page with that.

Good to see you are underway.
The 1812 mod includes a small US unit flag, which is what you can see in the screenies. I was holding on to the mod due to a niggle with the toolbar but on second thoughts I can zip it up and send you a link as it is 95% done. I'll do that when I get back home tonight. You'll be able to see what units I have allocated as 1812 in the SR1 OOB and units global.csv.

Re: American Rev. War mod anywhere??
I know pretty much nothing about the war of 1812. Its very much a forgotten war here in Britain, one of those misguided silly imperialist twitches we had when we ruled the waves and thought we ruled the planet. I take it it was mostly an infantry war with not much artillery and cavalry used?
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

From a British perspective I suspect this was one we'd have preferred to avoid if we could have. Having our hands full with Boney and such in the early stages.
Canadian Militia played an important role in fending off US forces and preserving Canada's boundaries, whilst the Brit Army had some successes..burning The White House being one notorious outcome.
The New Orleans battle in which US forces defeated a British attack is the most famous battle.
For the fledgling US it appears to be one of those events that acted as the catalyst for its future expansion and success. Delivered a national anthem too. An interesting conflict with its fair share of tragedy.
