Bug issue with tutorial

The infantry tutorial does not operate properly. I can get the General under the objective marker
as instructed but the tutorial will not cycle to whatever is next.

Im not sure what stage of the tutorial you are at, but are you supposed to move your infantry too?

I am not in the game. I am in the first tutorial where one learns how to move troops.

When you get to the first objective, the 76th New York appears and marches to a spot in the field to your south. At this point you should practice moving the commander and the regiment around and getting into and out of various formations.

When you want to go to the next phase, march the commander and the 76th NY regiment under the new objective that appeared along the edge of the field next to the orchard and to the North of the first objective. You may have to look around to see it.

How can the 76th NY move if I have no instruction as to how to do that ?

The instructions on how to move a regiment are included in the popup window that appears when you get to the first objective. You can also read the game manual which is the file SoW_Gettysburg_Manual.pdf and can be found in the 'Docs' directory in your main game installation folder.

I have tried the infantry tutorial several times and have not been able to get past the first segment of this tutorial which moves Gen. Cutler ONLY. Here are my observations:
1] The objective "diamond" does not stay stationary. As Cutler moves, so does the "diamond". This makes it impossible to actually determine if Cutler's objective has been reached.
2] I have resorted to moving Cutler towards the diamond and waited to see what the game would do. I have NEVER seen the pop up mentioned.
3] I have the CD version as well as the book. The book's instructions on selecting and moving a regiment are horrible and could not be any less clear.

You're getting 'orders destination' icons mixed up with objective icons. Check the mini map, objectives are represented by stars and when you mouse over them objective activation criteria is displayed.

The objective is the eagle with shield floating in the air. It will appear at the edge of a field. You will have to look a bit left ('Q' key or hold right mouse button down and move the mouse left) to see the objective. The objective marker will appear at exactly 9:00:30 which is also when the 2nd Staff Advisor popup appears. After the objective appears, then move the officer on the horse until he is right under the objective marker. This will trigger further events in the tutorial.
