Sevastopol and Balaklava September 2013.

Here you can talk about whatever floats your boat. Your favorite movie, sports team, etc. If it's a little racey, I suggest you post in R&R, otherwise we'll move it for you.

Sevastopol and Balaklava September 2013.

Post by alexjack »

I was in the Crimea last week. Here are some photos I took....
1...Site of Bastion Number 4 in the Crimea War city defences.
2...Reconstructed Russian Artillery position.
3...Russian Artillery positions at Bastion Number 4.
4...Looking down from Raglans' position on Sapoune Ridge at the 'Valley of Death' with Balaklava on the right. The Light Brigade charged up the Valley from right to left.
5...Looking down from Sapoune Ridge to the positions of the Russian guns in the middle distance on October 25th 1854. The Ridge was the scene of some bitter fighting in World War 2,hence the artillery of later vintage in the photo

Fantastic photos, thank you. I am surprised how high Sapoune Ridge is, a very hilly landscape.
