New MP problem arises

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

New MP problem arises

Post by cliometrician »

My friend and I have been playing SOWG ever since it came out, but last night and tonight he could not connect. We have the same mods checked, no new software has been added since we last played (three nights ago), firewalls are not the problem. We both have version 1.5, Another friend connected last night, but the one in question could not.

Absolutely nothing seems to have changed----he just no longer can connect for MP.

Any suggestions?

That happens sometimes. Try to direct connect via IP.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

We have tried to connect via IP and that did not work. We have been able to connect by IP in the past when the lobby was down.

Cliometrician and I have been playing this game four to five nights per week for years.

Should I uninstall and reinstall the game?

War Hawk is correct; neither Lobby nor IP connections work.

We play SOWG together 4 or 5 times a week. This is a crisis of the first order!!!

You should probably wait until you know that the problem is on your-end, and not with the game!
This is a crisis of the first order!!!
Now, that was straight-forward!

Hopefully, this will be resolved soon!

Davinci,

But how will we know if the problem is with the game or on his end? We are both barely computer literate--we don't know where to proceed from here.

Since you've played recently with 1.5, it's not the game or your installs. The MP server is through Matrix Games now, so the issue must be there. We'll be checking with them, please be patient.

Direct connect should always work, even when the lobby and the NAT server are down. If the lobby, the NAT server, and direct connect don't work. I would check the connections because it's just unlikely that all 3 are broken at the same time.

The game will always try to connect to the NAT, but it should work without it because we wanted to support LAN games. Even when you are connected to the NAT and it fails, it will try to direct connect.

Norb, both of us are somewhat computer novices. Exactly which connections are you talking about? I know that he has access to the internet, and there is no router problem. What other connection should be checked?

Thank you
