Very strange, never had problems before but not I cannot use the courier system, except for brigades. none of the other units will respond to courier orders. I have tried the basics several times over. Could this be a bug?
thanks
brigades/units not responding to courier orders
Re: brigades/units not responding to courier orders
What difficulty level are you playing at? And what aordrs are you trying?
its probably a known bug - it has to do with the time in the courier message.
try changing the time in the message to any other time, then change it back to the current time. That should sort your problem.
If not report back:)

Re: brigades/units not responding to courier orders
I have tried playing at several different difficulty settings. I do see the courier riding to the subordinate, but it is as of the commander is ignoring the order.
Sorry, but I do not know what is meant by time setting? I do not see any way to change the courier time setting. I mean, if you look at a message draft, there is a time, but no way to change it that I can see.
can you elaborate? are you taling about the + - functions to speed up time?

Re: brigades/units not responding to courier orders
No, simply the time the orders are sent. I know this, because it is a common hang up for orders to be canceled. I've put in a request for a simpler courier play design, with defaults in case you miss a step, so the ordered unit will move regardless...hope it gets looked at. If it does, and courier play becomes EASY and completely reliable, I'll incorporate it into my scenario designs from time to time. But not now, too many snafus...like this one, at least for my gratification, to implement courier designs.

Re: brigades/units not responding to courier orders
Con20or has most likely identified the problem. Go to the courier screen. Click on the time/date tab at the top. Select the current time, (the 1st on the list). Now write your orders as before. You only have to set the time once. All subsequent orders will work properly. This is a bug which re-appeared as have others in the 1.4 patch. Hopefully it will be fixed in the upcoming one.
By setting the couriers to 'side', you will not see any couriers ride off unless you are the army commander. If it is set to brigade, then all commanders will use them.
