I created two quick missions to show the differences between the stand-alone Iron Front Liberation, and a WW2 mod called I-44. I made these two missions as close as I could get them (creating the same mission in two different games). The Graphics settings of ARMA 2, and Iron Front are identical as well.

[Second video is I-44 D-Day Invasion MOD]

The first real difference are the maps.
I found that sound effects in I-44 superior, and the combat in I-44 was far more intense, and enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I do like Iron Front, it has potential but why pay for a game when in my opinion, you can get a MOD for free for the exact same game engine with next to no bugs to speak of, and much more fun to play.

Graphically they appear similar (so you'd need to tell us what your frame rates are on each). Sound-wise the I-44 game seems stronger but the real issue seems to be the AI in Iron FRont - all the Soviets were just milling around clueless with no idea what to do whereas in the I-44 game the enemy AI tanks came steaming in and gave the Shermans and your infantry a very rough time.
That in itself isn't a good thing, in Normandy most of the German armour fought defensively from static positions so armour counterattacks are not in itself good or realistic, but certainly the friendly AI in the first video is terrible.
In both videos the infantry seems to stand up and run about like headless chickens a lot. I can't help thinking that in battles that intense most foot soldiers would be hugging the dirt and moving in short hunched rushes along the hedgelines.
Neither encounter therefore grabs me as being realistic but the AI seemed better in the I-44 game, as was the sound.

HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

The first video your right the A.I is just milling about waiting for something to happen. Also it does have something to do with the editing of the mission as well. I created these two missions very quickly, and have paid very little attention to detail where the A.I scripts are concerned. It does get better if you sit back, and make better scripts, mission waypoint's.Graphically they appear similar (so you'd need to tell us what your frame rates are on each). My frame rates were between 21-25 which is fine for me personally.
I would say that so far I have had much more fun playing I-44. I felt that I was more part of a team rather left to my own devices.
If you own ARMA 2 combined forces (ARMA2, and OA), and enjoy WW2, I-44 D-Day Invasion would be the way to go. The mod itself is over 2 Gigs compressed.
If you are itching to grab a copy of Iron front, just give it a bit for the team to work out all the bugs. ARMA 2, and other additions to the ARMA 2 family were full of nasty bugs which they eventually fixed.
You know, I don't think they will ever be able to get A.I to act like Human players, but so far it's not too bad. There is nothing like playing against other people though.
