a couple of scenario editing questions
Re: a couple of scenario editing questions
Granted, it's already easy to screw up an MP game, I've done it a few times. Has there been any bad press from that? There definitely has been good press from the files that are allowed, because the mods are more fun. And there's definitely bad press when people hear that Napoleonic MP is not allowed. So if that is the rationale, it is flawed.

Re: a couple of scenario editing questions
I have to agree with Garnier on this one. Did I really say that? The game now has a long history as does its' modding. I can't recall the last instance where a player has blamed Norb or his game when a mod causes a crash. I imagine less than 2% of the people who have bought this game play MP. If the other 98% haven't squawked by now it is unlikely the other 2% will.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
Re: a couple of scenario editing questions
I would love the naploeonic mod to be multiplayer. If I was Norb though i would want some reassurance that the mod wasnt going to cause major crashes as you say bad press is just bad press. Having created a large mod there are tons of things which can go wrong. Saying that though, I would be interested in working with the team to get something rolling for a multiplayer Nap mod.

I've got division placement figured out. I'm just having trouble with placing individual brigades/regiments. Every time I input new coordinates for either a brigade or individual regiments they revert back to their starting formation with their respective division when I fire up the new scenario with the fresh data  . Also I can't seem to get them to change to column even when I put in DRIL_LVL6_INF_COLUMN. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi baldwin
I guess you've started with a sandbox setting? Then edit the scenario.ini file and set Sandbox=0
Cheers

About the placing of regiments, are you sure you are grabbing the exact coordinates from the startlocs file after generating it? The startlocs file captures the exact location and direction every unit is facing, so it can't be wrong.I've got division placement figured out. What command are you using to have the unit change to column? For regiment, it should be form:Dril_LVL6_INF_COLUMN
They will change to that formation, if they aren't close to an enemy.

Yes I started with a Sandbox and I've got all those things set correctly with debug mode activated and they just stick with their division and can't be separated it seems or change to columns even next to their division. The only thing it is letting me do is move the entire division from place to place or the corps commander to a different starting place.

Individual units won't cooperate with scripting unless they are detached or TC'd...they'll always go with the AI commander when the enemy is within the LOS.

I just want to change their starting locations I don't need movement scripting since this is for MP. Also, I put Weather= with different numbers in the scenario.ini and it didn't change the weather/sight conditions, what am I missing there?

Re: a couple of scenario editing questions
Starting locations are scripted in the scenario.csv file, usually copied from startlocs. Weather and visibility cannot be scripted in MP since battlescript.csv is tabu for MP.
