Dale,
Thanks for the thoughtful post, you will be happy to know that much of what you have posted is also on my list of upgrades. We plan to do significant work on the AI functions for all three arms which should address many of the frustrations that you and I among others have with the TC2M version. Some items in fact are already in GB such as the regimental 'use roads' command.

Please continue posts in this vein, it helps us to decide among the possible choices which things we will work on upgrading.

Also they are bad mouthing you again already over at the wargamer. I personally don't care what is going on between you and Adam and Mad Minute. Just make the games I'll buy them. ;)
Took at look. Sort of funny. They claim they search for truth, but I've already countered the majority of their arguments in my previous response. I guess it's just more fun to continue bad mouthing me. I suppose when you have no legal ground to stand on, you send out your dogs to bite. I honestly thought Adam had more class than that.

Where exactly can we find this discussion on the wargamer site? Their search function apparently only works for members.

It's not something that we should dignify with a link. It's not hard to find.

So here is a short list of what I found frustrating in TCSM:
Great stuff dale! Your list is right out of our playbook. What you mention is all the gameplay aspects. I do not feel that gameplay was worked on enough in TC2M. With all those scenarios to test and limited time, it was all we could do to just get in the features. What we missed was taking the AI and bringing it to the next level. Much of the AI in the new engine is based upon the same concepts. But we do realize where the AI was weak and we plan on making sure those holes do not appear in War3DII. Some of the stuff is "happy accidents" in that in it's ineptness, the AI actually did a good job of simulating some bad commanders from the war. But there are many things it did that just did not happen ever. Reg's did not walk through or right in front of an engaged regiment, just would not happen and it should not in w3dgb. Leaders would not run around trying to get killed by the enemy. So those things are just not acceptable and need to be fixed.

When Jim and I started this thing, we both felt very strongly that we needed to make sure we focused a large part of the testing effort on gameplay and we're doing that now. For the most part, the AI is back around the same level as the TC games. There are still some glaring bugs, but it's close. So now we need to just play, find the things we missed, make sure that our new design holds up in those old situations. Go to the next level. We have a great team, so I'm confident that we'll accomplish what we want, because if we don't Jim won't let us ship the game :)

He says the lead element is here
with the Third Corps...

the Sixth right behind...
supported by a column of federal cavalry.

Seven corps all together.

The First and Eleventh
are above Taneytown.

And there's more cavalry two hours east.

There may be as many
as eleven Corps altogether.

Do you believe the man, this Mr. Harrison?

No choice. Oh, You remember him, sir,
the actor from Mississippi?

An actor?
We move on the word of an actor?

Can't afford not to.

There would be some word
from General Stuart.

General Stuart would not leave us blind.

One other thing. Hooker's been replaced.

George Meade's the new commander.
Harrison read it in the Yankee papers.

George Meade, Pennsylvania man.

Meade would be cautious, I think.

Take him some time to get organized.

Perhaps we should move more swiftly.

There may be an opportunity here.

Yes, sir.

No reason to delay.

I think we should concentrate here.

All the roads converge
just east of this gap.

- This junction will be very necessary.
- Yes, sir.

I left my spectacles over there.
What is the name of this town?

Gettysburg.

Very well.

Nice job! I want to compliment you on the amount of thought and effort it must of took to write that article. I'm just another knock around guy, but I can appreciate when somebody uses their noodle for the common good.;)
