Deep Space, and all things Mercenary.

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Earlier today I stumbled on a new game that may suit some of you good space faring people out there. It's a game called "Evochron Mercenary". The link below is about the only review I can find about the game. Mind you I am more into the X3 Series especially "X3 Albion Prelude" which is so advanced it will take a very, very long time to even scratch the surface on what you can accomplish. If anyone wishes to see what "X3 Albion Prelude" then visit the second link below. I HIGHLY recommend X3 Albion Prelude to anyone who enjoys such games, and it's well worth the price, and there is a warning here, there is a steep learning curve, and once you manage to get the basic principles of the game under control, believe me when I say this expect to be WOW'ed by what you can actually do.

Enjoy!

Earlier (above) I posted about a game called "Evochron Mercenary", and I thought I would give it a try, and I'm not disappointed. It's rather amazing that something this cool can be so small (228 Megs). One of the cool features of this game is that you can create your world (building own stations etc) in SP, and be able to play it online in MP which allows you to keep using your SP character. Once you leave the MP universe, and play your character in SP mode, it just continues on which means no matter if you play SP, or MP it keeps the universe your playing with all the goodies intact. Now that is cool.

You can play the demo if you wish, and once you buy your copy just enter the serial you are off. You do not need to be online to activate it. There is also no need to be online to play it in SP mode. This is the old way of doing things... No intrusive DRM.

Also, on their website they offer for free a program to create your own dedicated server/universe, including an SDK, Voice test program... etc.

This game is about the best you can get for such a small price. This is an indie company, so if you like it, please support these guys by buying yourself a copy.

Personally, this is one game I highly recommend, and don't let the size of the download persuade you away from trying it out.

Here are some real Excellent graphics in the game. believe me this is a game that will not disappoint in the graphics department.

Here are two Video reviews. The second one has swearing. What is up with people having to swear when reviewing something...anyway here it is.

Videos Reviews.

[There is swearing in this video. I don't know why people have to swear, what is up with that any way?]

I bought the game, and you most likely will see ME online. This about one of the only games I will play online (outside of SOWgb..not often I'm afraid).

Note, thumb through the tutorials before adventuring out, it will save you.

Have fun!

You have three options, play the demo which is timed I think 60 minutes or something like that, or purchase the game, and enter your ref ID, and customer serial as you will see in the picture below. I unregistered mine just to show you first hand.

Evochron just came out, and so far there are mods already out, or being worked on. For you Startrek fans out there here is a Startrek ship menu.

HOLD ON redcoat. I didn't know you were talking about x3. I thought you were talking about "Evochron".

STOP, RED ALERT! RED ALERT!

Hang tuff there redcoat. X3 can be purchased via Steam, or Gamers Gate if I'm not too mistaken.

Here is a link where you can download X3 Albion Prelude: http://www.gamersgate.com/all?q=x3 but you need to have X3: Terran Conflict installed before installing X3 Albion Prelude.

Also, if your brave, you can get the bundled pack from Steam which has everything (I know). If you choose to buy from the X3 Website, you a greeted with boxed version of this game in German...odd.

I got this game for my Birthday from my sister, and I didn't have to have Steam to install it or play it. I'm not too sure even where she bought it from since I don't ask when it's a gift.
