Alpine2 - Pending Release Date

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Alpine2 - Pending Release Date

Post by Davinci »

Well, this is basically the map that I have chosen for release - the date is pending - but this is just about all that I can do with this map. Adding any more type of terrain will slow the map down to an unacceptable level.

This is basically an Open Map - without the houses, and the fences - based on the five-mile-Alpine-map.

Any, criticizes , or suggestions are more than welcome, as I use this in the hope of making the map better!

Great looking map. You just can't stay away from this one.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Flatten all of the hills to about 1/10 their current height, and it might be fun for MP. :)

If I remember correctly, this is the first map that you and I altered!

The hills are rougly reduced by forty percent from the normal elevation, and also the map is turned to offer a different prespective.

But , I'll try to re-adjust the hills a little bit lower and see what happens, as long as I don't have to re-do the creek-banks, and the creek-beds.

Maybe release two versions? Basically identical, but one with much less elevation variation. That should be easy to do since the heightmap is just a grayscale file.

Great idea G-Man , I think that I destroyed most of the creek-banks when reducing the height of the map, so making an additional map with a drastic reduction of the heights would work for an identical map.

I’ve already started on this, after this experiment, so it shouldn’t take too long to reform the creek-banks with this map with reduced heights.

Thanks,

Thanks, SamSmith, RDBoles,MTG, and G-Man!

OK, I have reduced the height from (25) to (15) this way it will bypass the (height.tga) file, and I have redone the creek-banks.

What, I'm going to do also is to change the rotation of this map making it different from the Alpine2, which is also different from the origianl Alpine.

Basically, all three will have the roads in a different place.

A thing of beauty, D.

The terrain blend and the ground textures are superb. Like the new sprites too.
