Countermanding Courier Orders

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Nope - im not using the toolbar to give orders, im writing them out.

1. Brigade - move to this location, form line.

they start moving

2. brigade, move to new location, form line.

they turn around and start moving the opposite direction, as they are supposed to.

Edit - Just checked it after 1.042, working fine as well. Not sure what to tell you MTG.

Perhaps this deserves its own thread?

I was sure my game performed as con20or described, just went in and tested (with latest patch) and no, it's behaving roughly as yours is, MTG:

Writing orders

1. Brigade - move to map location [click on map], face [direction], form [formation].

they start moving, once couriers have reached regiments

2. Brigade - move to map location [click somewhere else on map], face [direction], form [formation].

A courier is sent to brigade commander, who continues all the way to original destination, before setting out towards new destination.

Point and click

Behaves as you would hope - orders can be countermanded.

Recently, I've been using point and click rather than writing orders and will probably continue to do so. NB, Playing with Custom, Couriers at Brigade and above, no mods.

I have no idea what settings you guys are using, but with the latest patch, and for as long as I can remember, I can still countermand orders by courier, and have the brigade reverse course immediately.

When testing, I was playing at Custom difficulty, with couriers set at Brigade and above. No mods.

Don't know what other settings could affect this ??

Hmmm, OK, you may be on to something, I’m playing the game with several mods, but can’t really tell you which one is affecting the courier’s movement.

This is a Open Play game with the couriers set to Side .

Also, I can state that none of the Mods contain a courier.csv in them!

Re: Countermanding Courier Orders

Hi,

Just done another test. This time I played as Sturgis in the Antietam full battle MP scenario, with custom settings, Courier at Brigade. I had three GCM mods on, fwiw.

I went to me - Sturgis, and issued an order to Ferrero, using the courier window:
No orders
Move to map location {click somewhere off to the south)
Face North
Change formation to Division by Columns

Courier goes to him - courier message pops up on screen indicating receipt - off go the brigade.

Let them go a way, issue a 2nd order to Ferrero, using courier window
No orders
Move to map location {click somewhere off to the north)
Face West
Change formation to March column

Courier goes to him, reaches him, courier message pops up on screen indicating receipt, he sends off couriers to regiments, and ...

they all continue off to the south, towards destination of my first order. I go closer and can see that Ferrero, and each of his regiments, has a waypoint at Ferrero's first destination.

Each regiment heads towards the waypoint and goes round it before heading back northwards to the destination of the second order. It's like a buoy in a regatta course!

I'll try this again with no mods and in SP, just to make sure.

HTH

No - it's happening in SP too. I just tried MP today as an experiment - partly in case you wanted to see it happen by joining me in MP - also to double check I'm not seeing things ;-)
