Attachment question

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Attachment question

Post by Hunter »

Hi everyone.

Is it even possible to make attachments? I searched the forum but could not glean any info.
What do you do with all those captured artillery pieces?

Speaking of artillery, just a suggestion, but I think the flag should be with the piece (In battle I don't really care where the caisson is!)

Also it would be nice if the battery stayed in one place! What is with all the aimless pushing of the gun all over the battlefield? Do I have to take command of every gun to pin them down?
Additionally, it would be nice if they stayed in a closer formation. I would rather have the entire battery move as one, as opposed to individual guns crawling all over the board like bugs. It is a micro-management nightmare during big battles!

Thx for any help!

If you capture artillery and you already have arty brigades, they will come under command of the arty commander.

The arty guns must move around when getting into range. They have to adjust to be able to see around terrain, other units etc. It's essential to their operation. If they have to move more then a few yards or so, they will limber and move. Also un-supported artillery (no infantry nearby) will always try to getaway when enemy regiments are near.

It used to be the case that you would either have to hit "attach" to turn off TC on captured guns, and then they would respond to their new unit commander. I also don't recall ever seeing a captured gun limber up, but it's been a while since I bothered to go after artillery with infantry.

SS,

You're right. Captured guns do not limber. The Guns are captured, not the limbers. They must be man-handled about to move.
