This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.
The zoom feature in the game is not associated with the game screens.
I'm going to throw my two cents worth in (which is all it's worth) because I can't sleep and there's nothing on the TV. You've got the POPUP_Map.dds and you've got that stuff in the gscreens.csv. Can't you do something with that like the Large Courier Screen?
Just brainstorming here...

"Those in whose judgment I rely, tell me that I fought the battle splendidly and that it was a masterpiece of art.” - George McClellan to his wife describing the battle of Antietam
But, I think that this will still depend on if the screen is scrolling from left to right
Oops. Forgot about that. But would you absolutely have to scroll? Would it be enough to zoom in on the mouse point? I'm thinking of the latest scenario I'm playing and all I really care about is one section at a time. If I want to look somewhere else I could zoom back out and zoom in somewhere else. Not the best but it would get around the scrolling, which seems difficult to pull off in a mod.

Hope I can explain this clearly but for example; in google maps, the default view is 2000 ft by 2000 ft. Zoom in once, you get 1000 ft by 1000 ft. At 1000x1000, the terrain you were able to see on the edges of the screen at the 2000 ft view is now not visible. So in our game when you zoom in we would be calling up a zoomed in version of the map.. But how would the game know what area of the map you are zooming in to?
I'm thinking of the magnifying glass icon moving somewhere on the map, you click it and you get a zoomed in screen within the confines of the map window. The icons would be spread out now per ADukes who said they are based on resolution.
Now making all that happen. That's your challenge!

Ah, now you've got my gears churning.. Like I don't already have enough on my plate, but I've gotta look into this..
Why not just ADukes how to do it instead of spending time re-inventing the wheel? It would be a great game enhancement. And if it can be accomplished with a simple mod, why the obtuse secrecy?
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
a zoomed in map, and a larger map is basically two different things.
The opposite is right, it is basically the same. You zoom in if you want a closer more detailed look of an area and you will get the same result with a larger map.

If this is about a larger or a zoomed portion of the mini map, then I'm out. I see no advantage or enhancements with this.
What I would like to see in this area is a new Zoom Map, exactly in the appearance of the mini map. When one clicks on a location, the map would close like the command map, and the camera would be at max height looking straight down at the position selected. I could, and would, use this.
I've been working with this concept, to now avail. Changing map behavior is the immediate problem, then there's the scripting of the camera height and angle.
Is it possible to mod this concept ADukes?

For those that use couriers it's a very significant enhancement. By contrast, the change that you would like is of no benefit to those who play HITS. Point of view is everything.

I think courier play and HITS are great game options, but as you already know, they're not for me. The concept I propose is for folks that prefer a faster paced game, involving greater troop strengths and bigger battles...Macro management, to da max. B)
