Play Stock Scenarios With Mods

Post by born2see »

"A little modding knowledge is a dangerous thing"

I think I figured out a way to play all the Stock Scenarios as User Scenarios using the SDK. Then you could apply your favorite mod to them. Obviously they would not have the features the in-game scenarios such as unlocking new scenarios and high scores, but if you like one of them and wanted to play it with your favorite mod, you could.

Let me put this to the group: If you don't think this is a good idea, please let me know. If it's been done before, please let me know that too. If nobody cares, then this topic will enter the dreaded No Reply Zone and I'll get the hint. Otherwise I'll post it or at least how to do it yourself. It would probably be more fun for me than anyone else.

Thanks

Crash and burn.... I knew I wasn't the first person to think of this. :( I had a couple of ideas for scenarios and they'd been done too. So many smart and knowledgeable people involved with this game...

You could always release your own version. One thing about my version; carryover is disabled. This affects some of the later scenarios pretty drastically because the casualties are not inflicted, so you could make a version where carryover is still enabled. You could also make many other edits as well.

Thanks LP, for the encouragement. I think I have almost as much fun with the mods as I do playing the game. :P

This thread will tell you how to get the historical scenarios into the user scenarios list (so mods will work) *and* enable carryover for them. It's just like the campaign, except you don't get the nifty score-map (although you do get all your mods!).
