I need to reactivate but the server is giving me problems...

Okay here it goes...

1. I uninstalled the game, and deleted c:\norbsoftdev, and all sub directories
2. Cleaned my registry by using ccleaner.
3. I went through my registry manually (regedit), and cleaned all entries to do with sowgb.
4. Cleaned temp files referencing sowgb.
5. rebooted the system to allow new registry to be loaded.
6. Installed SOWgb (version 1.0). I did not install any patches.
7. Tried to activate game... See pics below

I know that I am able to activate my game because you sent me an email.

Yet when in the game I have the option to Deactivate.

This is beyond me... I haven't tried to deactivate. I'm waiting to see what you think.

If you are as patient as you have claimed Let me send this to the company that does this stuff and we'll find out exactly what is happening. Please email the latest log to the support email. I would like the whole thing to send him. I don't think I've seen this one before and I would really like to know exactly what is going on rather than us just guessing. He usually responds pretty quickly.

Never a problem Norb. I find this very interesting actually...besides I have the tutorials to fart around with while I wait. It actually forces me to work on my lack of gameplay skills.

The problem might be that you're installing 1.00 and in there is the old DLL file that tended to get flagged by AV software. Try to get a newer version. I know it's hard with dial-up.

You will find this outrageous in this day, and age Adukes but I uninstalled my AV software about 6 days ago, I just couldn't handle downloading the updates all the time (took forever). So it can't be AV software causing a problem...

The only thing I haven't done is install patch 1.03...what's your opinion?

Damn, and I thought it was going to work this time.

I installed the previous patch version 1.1 before trying to activate the game. Well it failed again.

It first told me it failed, then it couldn't contact the server so I decided to disable my firewall to see if this would make a difference, and...nope, it still couldn't contact the server.

Hmmm, Windows XP is having a heart attack or something. The only thing that I installed recently is Netframework 4.0, and I can't see how that could be causing anything like this, but then again I'm not a tech so who knows. AAAhhh the horror of it all! :huh:

Maybe your right there is always that possibility but I can't see how I could be having that type of problem. I have only a 56K modem, a server I dial into, and the windows firewall that's about it.

Anyway, thanks for the great idea LP, I sent off my manual activation code so I'll have to wait.

What I find so peculiar about this is, it did reach the server to deactivate the game the first time, then it activated the game on the server but it did not activate the game on my harddrive which makes this really odd. So far I have bothered you folks to deactivate my code on your server twice, so the game server is activating the code, but not on my end.

I'm almost tempted to install it in Sandboxie, then it will be isolated. In doing this it would tell me if there is a problem with windows xp or not.
