Hey, what exactly does this file do?
It is approximately 11,670 KB – but I can’t see any direct impact with the game.
I even renamed the file, but the game still runs the same.
I was scrolling the map and for a brief moment; the toolbar disappeared, except for the clock, first time that has ever happened, but I’m not sure if that is related to renaming this file.
Do the game use any of the files in the SOW \ Base \ Maps \ Textures – folder?
Thanks,
davinci

Re: VolumeNormalMap
You are correct, this is not used. Originally we were using the engine resources to create the water, but we could not get it the nice muddy brown that we wanted and it also only does one level for the entire map. So we stopped using their water routines, so this file is no longer used. Thanks.
Re: VolumeNormalMap
Norb – thanks, for the reply back on this, I guess that it is time to abandon this folder and move on to another part of the games files!

Re: VolumeNormalMap
Sorry to have wasted your time. Things have changed since I started writing this engine. I also saw that the watershader.fx file in the shaders folder is also part of that routine.
Re: VolumeNormalMap
Well, I can’t really say that it was a total waste of time, I like playing around with the files, just to see what will happen.
After, your post about the Textures file, I removed that file along with the Shaders file, since that folder also contained files related to water.
As you know, the game still ran without a problem. I think that I spend more time exploring the files, and modding, than I do playing the game.
