Moving Trees vs. FPS

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Moving Trees vs. FPS

Post by Jack ONeill »

Hey All,

Here's the question - Can the trees that are moving, (ie: blowing in the breeze), be made to stop? I will assume they are drawing some level of FPS away from everything else. If so, how might it be accomplished?
If not, oh well. Thanks.

In my testing they have not made a difference. It's the number of trees that really slows things down.

Adding to Norb's post!

I thought the same thing several months back, but I can't see any result for this, but here is the answer to your question!

gfx.csv - one that you have placed in the Mod of choice!

Column P - Timing

Place something like 5000 - for all of the trees.

Now, they will still move, but you would have to really stare at them to notice it.

Roger that. If it doesn't make a difference, I won't bother. Seems like it should though. But, what do I know, I'm just a begonia...
Thanks.

Well, it didn’t seem to benefit either of us, but both of us have a PCI-E – Graphics Card, and didn’t you mention that you went with the Integrated Chip ?

You can still try it out to see what the results would be for you, basically just make a copy of the gfx file, make the changes to the old file, and test the outcome of it!

If you don’t see any benefit, just delete that gfx file – replace it with the one that you saved – and try something else!

I will add that I have done quite a few tests, trying to see if I could make any headway with my fps, and the only thing that really made a difference was to reduce the OOB.

But my Graphics Card is the reason for this; it is approximately three years old, but so is my system!

D,

Good point. At some point soon I will give it a try. Will let you know how it turns out. Yes, the comp I bought has an on-board ATI Radeon card. Works really well. But, since I am REALLY hooked now, I am looking into more RAM, (have room for 2 Gigs more), AND a plug-in Graphics card. Ah, too much the loon...

Hey, when you have the time, read up on the ATI – 3400 series card, if I’m under-standing it correctly, that particular series is designed to work side-by-side with your Integrated Chip .

Basically, to put it another way, you can run both of them at the same time!
