Questions About a Demo and the Full Game

Is there a demo that I can download? Don't see it at the SOW website. Would like to try it out before deciding to purchase. Secondly I understand that you need an activation code for the full game. The full game version that interests me is the one that comes with a CD. I am assuming then that I could install the full game on a 2nd computer as I would already have the activation code. Also, the CD would serve as my physical back up of the game in case something happened to the install on my PC. Thanks in advance for any replies.

There are two ways to get the game:

You can get the CD version of the game which comes with an activation code, printed manual, and bonus content. You can install the game from the CD and then activate that install of the game. In order to install the game on a second PC, you would need to de-activate the game on the first PC, then install/activate it again on the second PC.

Or you can download the demo, purchase an activation code, and then unlock the Demo which unlocks the full game.

You download the full game and it only lets you play the demo parts until you purchase and unlock it.

To expand on LP's post, the Demo is in the download of the game. You can/must download the whole thing, but you can only play the demo, until you buy the game and the activation code. Then, then whole game is already there.

Hi.

If it was me I would buy the the CD boxed version, then once the purchase has been confirmed of the cd version, then activate the downloaded demo with the key, and play to your hearts content until the boxed version arrives.

You have to love this game though, it keeps me up at nights wondering where I went wrong. I think I remember hearing something from the doctor just before he smacked me when I was born, I think I heard "this is just wrong, he's just not right!"

Hope this isn't a dumb question but if you have to de-activate the first install before a new install, then it sounds like that each time you activate, there is some sort of communication with Norb Software. If I assume the worst and Norb Software goes under, what good is the CD if I want to use it for a new install as there is no one that the program can communicate with? In other words, it doesn't appear that having the CD version gives you a workable game any longer then the digital download version.

It doesn't, the CD version's benefit is that it comes with the printed manual etc.

Also if you install from the CD, you'll still have to download the latest patch. The CD might be nice if your download speed is so slow that the download of the game would take as long as the mailing of the CD.

Look, there are quite a few new users that have voiced this concern; but this game is not programmed by someone that really doesn’t give a damn!

If, and I state if this company goes under – Norb will remove the security requirements, and also probably unlock the maps, if they are still locked at that time!

This game is designed by someone that really does listen to the opinions of the users. And if you have a valid complaint, he will consult with his team-members about adding or removing that from the game. There are not a lot of designers that will do this!

Davinci is right, Norb does care. I for one voiced my concerns about 10 or so months back, and once I spoke to Norb via posts I came to trust him.

Believe me, he does care, and he would never do what other companies out there would. He can be trusted.

That is about all I can say about Norb, he's a decent guy.

Just a couple of points to answer your concerns.

I believe my history with Take Command supports that we are willing to remove the locks when we are no longer adding new content to the game.

Also, the activation codes are not hosted by us. They are hosted by a company that has been around since the 1980s. Even if I was blown up before I could do any code, you would still be able to use your code for the game. It's not hosted on our servers.
