Startup lag

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Startup lag

Post by garyknowz »

I'm not sure why, but it takes over a minute to load up the game on my machine. I'm not sure why. I have a 3.0 quad core, 6 GBs of RAM, dual GPUs, etc... all in all, a pretty nice gaming machine. Every other program seems to run excellently. Any thoughts on why the lag? Thanks.
Sorry. I suffer from a serious case of typosis. Don't worry, it's not contagious :)

What version of the game are you running? We tested a new version tonight and Norb hopes to have it up for patching sometime tomorrow.
War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.

Sorry for the delayed response. Had an emergency out of town.

It looks like I'm running version 1.01. But I believe I had installed two patched it twice though, so I'm not sure exactly.

Edit: I just noticed the new patch up. I'll install it and report back.

Okay. patch 1.102 is installed, and the start up time is dramatically reduced. It takes ~15 secs. Is that about where the trial runs have ranged?

Edit: Hey, Shirkon! I inadvertently ran the cursor over your birthdate icon, and noiced that we share a birthdate---May 18th (albeit, two decades later). I've only ever met one other person who share that date.

So, cheers!

That's still pretty slow, should start up in just a few seconds with the latest patch. I've never seen that problem reported before so it must be something running on your machine like a virus scanner etc. that is slowing it down.
