I wasn't sure if this was the best category or perhaps Command & Staff, so if I've goofed, please move this.
If I've played all 20 GB scenarios on "Normal" and claimed a major victory in each, but have also played one or two of those on something less than normal and claimed a victory, will that qualify for "General" without caveats?
Did that question make any sense?
Do I need to sleep more and charge artillery positions less?

If you've scored a Major Victory on all 20 scenarios on Normal, then you qualify for General, regardless of any other plays at any level.
