Changing the Kansas Map

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Changing the Kansas Map

Post by Jack ONeill »

Hey All,

Is there a simple way to change the ground color of the Kansas map? I've played on it several times recently and I like it simply because I can use all the trees and buildings with my tired old computer. I'd like to change the color only because the troops show up better on the green.
I did look in the manual, but, having the brain of a flea, I couldn't seem to find an answer.
I'm sure the Mod Guys out there could figure this out and report back. Wouldn't mind adding a few more trees too.
Thanks.

Hey, Jack – I’m going to answer this like Norb does!

What you are asking is not possible!

Now for my answer – all of the files that pertain to the textures are locked, I have crashed the game going on three-hundred-times, trying to figure out Norbs code.

I haven’t given up on it, but if we could change the ground-textures, that would be sort of like making an alternate map.

The only things that you can do – add roads, add trees, someone mentioned that you can add houses – I don’t see how that is possible, unless they were referring to swapping around houses.

Dav,

Thanks Brother. I was wandering thru some other posts and found an answer similar to yours. Completely understandable situation.

So, the question is now to Norb/Team - Would you guys change the ground color to more like the Gettysburg maps and release it as a (sort of) new map?

Thanks in advance.
