Two questions about the sandbox

Post by Stratos »

Hello all!

I'm interested in getting the game but before that I have a couple of questions about the "Sandbox" mode.

1- I have not the time to play big battles, I will like to have the possibility to easy edit the OOB so I can play with 3 or 4 of the smallest infantry (which ones are the smallest possible units?) unit a couple of the smallest cavalry unit (the same question as above) and some artillery.

2- Will be possible to use this OOB into randomly generated battles? So for example the enemy start in a part of the map and I start in another So I need to search, found and battle them?

3- Can the cavalry in game "charge" against the enemy? I'm thinking to charge against other cavalry, artillery, supply wagons (if they are in the game)...

4- Are in the game a clear sky "sky"? On the screenshots I can only see cloudy skys.

Thats it. Thanks for your time

See my replies in italic.

Well you can chose a brigade size battle which will be very small. You could choose a cavalry brigade, artillery, or infantry and battle it out. But you can also create a custom OOB as a mod and use whatever forces you want.

2- Will be possible to use this OOB into randomly generated battles? So for example the enemy start in a part of the map and I start in another So I need to search, found and battle them?

Yes, the "Hunt Them Down" is the best for this. You never know where the enemy will start and you have to search them out.

3- Can the cavalry in game "charge" against the enemy? I'm thinking to charge against other cavalry, artillery, supply wagons (if they are in the game)...

Yes they can charge.

4- Are in the game a clear sky "sky"? On the screenshots I can only see cloudy skys.

The skies depict the weather as it was historically during the battle. I'd have to check, but I believe the Kansas map has clear skies.

Thanks for the info, really apreciatted. But that generated some more questions.

1- Is hard to create a custom OOB? Can this be made "in-game"?

3- Charge with sables? That will be really nice!

A Karma point to you

OOB's can't be made in game (yet) but they aren't too difficult to design. You can download/install the Software Development Kit (SDK) which goes over the process in great detail.
