Constant Courier messages
Constant Courier messages
Just played a sandbox game, Line of sight. really enjoyed it, loved the long march, searching out enemy units, etc.
Downside was, objectives keep dissapearing. Fought my way up to the half-way point I had been aiming for, objective had dissapeared from the map and screen, couldnt remember where to go! Happened me in two games.
After a certain amount of time, I get a courier message about every 10 seconds. Always - xx regiment, move to here using roads where possible etc. This happened in two games too. Ended up quitting because was too annoying.

Don't know about the objectives disappearing problem, maybe LP knows, he'll be back from vacation tomorrow.Just played a sandbox game, Line of sight. really enjoyed it, loved the long march, searching out enemy units, etc.

Re:Constant Courier messages
It might be that when TC-ing, the objective for the commander disappears. It will reappear when the commander is selected again. For me, that took a bit of getting used to but after a few battles, I no longer am bothered by it.
But I really get tired of the couriers every time I move any unit in my brigade, I know that there will be two couriers arriving soon to tell me to move, use roads, etc, etc. Since I already issued the order, I know it is coming. Two couriers for every command I issue is the minimum I can get working. I sure would like to turn off the courier command in sand box.

Yes, that flood of messages comes whenever a regiment is TC'd and the brigade commander wants it elsewhere. He is in charge of it after all. You can do as RebBugler suggests and uncheck the courier message box. The other thing you can do is detach the regiment you want to TC. Then the brigade commander knows he doesn't have to worry about it any longer and won't bother to send messages to it. Just remember to re-attach it once you're done fiddling with it.But I really get tired of the couriers every time I move any unit in my brigade, I know that there will be two couriers arriving soon to tell me to move, use roads, etc, etc. Since I already issued the order, I know it is coming. I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Couriers? Again I say, opt them off...I do.
Oh, I see. Those were not objectives, those were destination points. They go off when you TC. Objectives have an eagle and shield that designates CS or US capturing. It might be that when TC-ing, the objective for the commander disappears. It will reappear when the commander is selected again. Re:Constant Courier messages
There is an option on the in game options menu to turn off the auto popup of the messages.
Re:Constant Courier messages
I tried the custom setting and used "courier messages at this level and above" set to Army and it did reduce the number of couriers.

Re:Constant Courier messages
ok, thanks everyone. I really like the couriers , just not repeated messages!
