Stuck in grog mode
Stuck in grog mode
SO I put the game in Grog mode just to play around. Then, after playing, I put the game back in regular mode, applied the change, and went to one of my favorite scenarios, Greene Stands Alone. When I started, I was stuck in grog view mode. I exited, went back to the options screen, and made sure I had changed to "normal" play. I had. To be safe, I clicked on "normal" again, applied the change, and went back to the scenario. Once again, I was stuck in "normal" mode. I then went to a different scenario; same problem.
Look, I am as big a fan of grognard view as anyone, but some days, I just want to play for fun on normal. What seems to be happening is the "custom difficulty settings", including "camera distance from you" and "Orders by Courier at this level and above" buttons are not resetting or changing when one changes back from Grognard to Normal. In addition, hitting the key to restore default settings does not appear to work, either. I have not, to my knowledge, loaded any mods.
Please fix or do somefink!

Re: Stuck in grog mode
Did you play and win GB03 in grog mode too?

Yes, I did.

Re: Stuck in grog mode
That's the reason. The difficulty setting is stored in the save/cont files.
Re: Stuck in grog mode
That should be changed. The difficulty setting on which I beat one scenario should not impact how I play another sceanrio, particularly where I have already beaten the entire game. Can we put this on the list of things that need to be corrected in the patch, please?

Re: Stuck in grog mode
The difficulty is set once you begin the scenario. It cannot be changed in the middle. There are many factors, like reg sizes, that just cannot be switched back. Also, it ensures that people that finish a scenario on grog, played grog the entire time. I do not foresee this changing.
Re: Stuck in grog mode
Norb, I started the scenario from scratch each time. Prior to starting the scenario, I tried to change to "normal" difficulty in the options screen. I did not start from a saved game. If I am stuck in grog because I am playing a scenario that is part of a carry over chain, well, that is a problem, particularly if I have already beaten the game. I shouldn't have to go back and replay an older scenario on a different difficulty level just to be able to play a subsequent scenario.

Re: Stuck in grog mode
To further clarify. A moment ago, I played 1 brickyard lane on Normal difficulty -- no problems. I then started "Greene Stands Alone" and was stuck in grog mode. It is my understanding that I am stuck in Grog Mode on Greene Stands Alone because I played and beat Scenario 3 on grog mode. What I am saying is that the fact I beat scenario 3 on Grog mode should not force me to be stuck in grog mode when playing scenario 14. The fact that it does so is a problem, because, while I want to beat the game on grog mode and get general of the armies, i am loathe to do so if that means I will be stuck in grog mode on certain scenarios later on due to early choices in the carry over tree. The settings I choose, in other words, for scenario 3 should not straitjacket me into those same settings in scenario 14. Does that make more sense?

Re: Stuck in grog mode
OK, so it's a carryover scenario that you are talking about. I can see how that happens. I agree with you on this point and will take a look. Thank you for clarifying.
