Sound Issues...

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Sound Issues...

Post by Jack ONeill »

Norb et. al.,

What if anything is going on with the Sound issue? Now that I have this most excellent game, (WOOT!), it is extremely annoying to have (a) the sound disappear completely during either a multi or single player game then come back later and/or (b) still have no musketry sounds during the fighting. Apologies all around if this has been addressed and I haven't found it yet.

We are all keeping watch on this issue. The problem is that we cannot recreate it regularly. In order to fix it I have to be able to recreate it in the debugger so that I can see what's going on. Wish I could find my old sound code, I complete rewrote this before and now am using the code in the engine. Bad Idea :)

But if we could figure out exactly when/why it happens, I could fix it. So we're still trying to nail it down.

The one that sounded like sand being thrown against a metal baking pan?

No really, I liked that sound too.. But I much prefer the canister sound in this game. The first time I heard it and saw a whole company get mowed down, I was like COOL!

Then mod it in! Play the game how you want it. We just give you our best shot, but the fun is making it how you like it.

I'm sure someone will feel the urge to replace all sounds with completely different ones that in no way makes it realistic, just to be surreal.

Somehow i can just imagine the sound of cannister fire being replaced by a large "QUACK!"

and so on the battlefield if you hear a large QUACK! well then naturally you should . . . .

The sound was working last night until I completed a level and started a new one when it suddenly disappeared. However, if I restart the game, the sound returns.
