What do you guys mean when you say you have to play both sides? I don't understand what you mean.

Waited years for this, but it's looking complicated.

Please help me understand something...from what I just read, the game uses carryover scenarios, so I suppose that means you start the next scenario with the troops left over from the last battle. If that's true, is it a possibility that you could be starting Pickett's Charge with half troop strength if you did poorly in the previous scenarios. Boy, am I confused.

Please help my old, tired brain.

Sorry that it's confusing. We do try to not be too techie, but we've been doing this for so long we do not realize when we do!

You are correct in your assumption. If you do poorly on the previous scenario, you could start the next with less strength. But... not all units are carried over. Many are fresh in the new scenario, also the enemy is stuck with the same restriction. They too could be at weaker strength.

I am wondering if there has been consideration given to allow "open play" whereby the purchaser of the game can elect to play any scenario at any strength? If I elect not to play a certain scenario, for whatever reason, I should not be penalized by not being allowed to play the next scenario in the progression!

I propose the "fair" way would be to allow the purchaser to decide which course of action he prefers...scenario progression or "open play."

Thanks for consideration,

I agree with you in concept. I think that people should be allowed to play the game the way that they want. I have always supported that. But on the other hand, I have a scenario designer that has worked tons of hours to recreate history. I have to support his decision to want these scenarios as carryover. It's his creativity and dedication that allows these scenarios.

We have discussed this on our board and this entire conversation is made pointless once we release the SDK. At that point the source to all of our scenarios will be released and people can change them how ever they want.

...presuming all who want to change have the knowledge and capability to make their preferred changes. :P

Thanks, Norb...it explains a lot! Will wait patiently for the SDK...another acronym about which I know nothing.

Great game...and I am a grand old time! Thanks, again, to all for their labor of love.

You can bank on the fact that someone with the knowledge will post their efforts.
