What I do before installing a Beta Patch.
Hi.
I noticed that people do at times are having problems after installing the patch, or any beta patch for software.
What I did BEFORE I installed this patch (beta).
1st: I created a "RESTORE POINT"
2ND: I created a full Backup of the Norbsoftdev directory (I placed the backup on my usb drive.
Then I installed the patch.
If I ran into any problems after installing the patch (unable to play game), I would restore my restore point.
reboot.
Delete the Norbsoftdev directory, and just copy your backup of the game.
Now mind you, I haven't had to restore the game to see if this works or not. I do know that there is a hidden directory off of the work directory itself, which I do not know gets copied or not if it remains hidden, or if a bit gets added after you try to get the game started...I have no idea.
I thought I might share this with the people who are intimidated of installing a beta patch, or any patch for that matter.
I always make restore points, and backups for patches, just to be on the safe side.
Cheers...
Later!

Are you saving the patch to your computer document file first, then opening the the patch with "run" afterwards allowing the patch to go to your SOW program?

That folder is the activation stuff and it should not be copied because it won't work. But if it stays in the same place and is not touched, it will remain active. I have written the installers to not overwrite certain files. Mainly your ini, keyboard, saved games, etc. So you could install the beta, hate it, then just install the original and you would be fine.

I use firefox, and no, I never open anything after it has just been downloaded from within the download manager (web browser), I just save it to disk. Are you saving the patch to your computer document file first, then opening the the patch with "run" afterwards allowing the patch to go to your SOW program?

That's great news. I am glad that our DRM has been explained enough that some of the folks that initially shy away feel comfortable enough to give it a shot.

They saw that this DRM is not as serious as other title's out there, and showing them the game on the weekend gave them a push to reconsider.
The guys I know usually come around when they see the full product in action (activation etc).
Cheers.

The main thing I feel the need to do before installing a beta patch is to pray......
