It may be that the background scan is messing with the game. You need to get the dll in as an exception in your virus list. It's hard to know what it's doing if you constantly find it missing. So please find how to add it as an exception, or contact McAfee and tell them to stop messing with your game!
Crashing any game can leave the computer in a bad state. Windows does a decent job of cleaning up stuff, but it's still possible to have memory and/or resources in a bad state. If your virus scan messes with the game while you are playing, there is no telling what could happen.

The activation dll is in the Work folder scpwn32.dll I think. This is the one that virus software is deleting.
